""That's probably the last time I'll ever play against that guy. Not really much of a player, so I'll leave it at that."" - Stone
Not much of a player caught you not looking and decimated you. Nice hit!

This is the thing with punks like Stone that are pretend tough.

Its what I like about guys like Doughty too. Pop him like that and he'll get up and smile. Its part of hockey that you can get nailed and even in preseason when players are trying to make an impression, of course stuff like this happens.

Vegas players are going to bitch a lot this season because they have targets on their back. Plus how does any team with Petrangelo react like this to "dirty" plays. Live by the sword...

He probably meant during the regular season, as Stone will be back on LTIR for the reset of the year any day now.

I actually didn't think.he'd have the gall to show up in preseason. Wish some noname would make it a legit reason not to be in the line-up

Dustin Wolf doing his best David Rittich impression.

I've been waiting for someone to post the video lol.

Haven't taken a peek at Francis' column today, but I'll bet it has to do with "wow the team sure is having a lot of fun now that Sutter is gone would you look at that celebration!!!!"

The narrative about how that team is destined for a turnaround only because Sutter is gone is baffling to me. Not even 12 months ago the Flames were considered a "contender" because of Sutter. Up until about late January the narrative out of Calgary was even "can't blame Huberdeau or Kadri, Sutter's system is complex and so hard to learn!" Then only when it was apparent the team stunk did the knives turn on Sutter.

The short memories are astounding. The Flames (which had a hands down better roster at the time) barely made the playoffs in 2020, then missed in 2021 in an easy Canadian division. Then they shoot up to "contender" status when Sutter is there for the full year in 2022. Now that he's gone we are supposed to think that they will magically be good again despite having a worse roster than 20/21/22 and a rookie head coach? Completely illogical.

Well, then I've come up with a solution for the Flames. They need to keep hiring and firing Sutter every few days. If the Flames fans are correct, it should catapult their team into the Stanley Cup contender status by the end of the season.

to be honest, I think they'll be a better team now that the dark cloud of Lord Sutter has lifted...Huberdeau will have a somewhat bounce back season (not even close to a 100 points though) and Mangiapane will score a bit more and Markstrom will rebound a bit

but that's still a mediocre team trying desperately to squeak into a Wild Card spot,,,same as it ever was

and this whole narrative of "we lost one many 1-goal games and it was just being unlucky!" is absolutely B.S...they lost those tight games cause there isn't the talent on the team to win in OT, they don't have a single game breaker...plus, Sutter entire system is predicated on tight-checking games, many of which go into OT

The "one goal game and posts hit!!!" narrative is bullshit in a laughable way.

Know who else was right near the top of the league in one goal losses and posts hit? The San Jose Sharks, but you don't hear anyone crowing about their bad luck.

They also lost Toffoli. Their leading scorer. They aren’t going to be better.

I'm aware they lost their leading scorer and brought back a lesser player
but the non-toxic environment alone will make them better IMO...again 50/50 to eek into a Wild Card spot
Maybe. I don’t see a non toxic environment making up for lack of forward talent but I can see them making the WC because the other teams also won’t be great.

Those numskulls over at CP are so obsessed with us that they've even started a second Edmonton thread lol.... This.. even after the Oilers destroyed their team two years ago and started their downward spiral... they still love to talk smack

Their "chirps" if you can even call them that are so pathetic. "DUUUH embarrassing the Oilers haven't won a cup with McDavid!"

It's like a homeless person insulting the color of the marble on the millionaire's kitchen countertops.

Oh I agree he probably bounces back. Making up for 30 goals and 70 points will be tough though.

Toffoli was their only player last year that stepped up in any big way when they needed it most too. It wasn't just the volume of scoring, it's when he scored. A lot of his goals came at important times and that's gone now.

And yet you never hear about this because Calgary Media is a bunch of turd polishers. Same as when they lost Gaudreau and Tkachuk and they acted like it was nothing.

This is exactly why their claim of a re-emergence is so baffling. Pretending that a scoring core of Huberdeau + Kadri is in any way comparable to Gaudreau + Tkachuk is putting your head in the sand, plain and simple.

This was apparent even last year IMO, and it's even more glaringly apparent a year later. Coaching, culture, whatever aside, they just don't have anywhere near as talented a lineup today as they did from about 2018-2022 and any non-measurable thing like "culture" won't make up for that.

Look at the Flames depth chart and have a good laugh. Anyone who thinks this is a playoff lineup is kidding themselves.

Huberdeau-Lindholm-Sharangovich
Dube-Kadri-Coronato (injured)
Mangiapane-Backlund-Coleman
Ruzicka-Zary-Duehr

Hanifin-Andersson
Zadorov-Weegar
Oesterle-Tanev
