Pulju is a cool experiment to watch unfold. See if the analytics hunch does resolve into some success down the line and some of the hockey ops people are wrong.

Don’t know if this has been posted, but Puljujarvi deemed as a “play killer” in the Oilers’ locker room. Wow.

Well this just makes us sound like a sucker.

New Jersey is another target, as a team that places a high value on the analytics that are kind to Puljujarvi. Despite scoring just four goals nine assists in his final 36 games of the season — almost all spent next to Connor McDavid — analytics exist that pump up Puljujarvi’s value and could entice certain teams to the asset.

Very interesting. Until now I had assumed that the most likely scenario was that the Flames would be able to keep him. This sounds like he may intend to test the market, and if that happens I would imagine he's gone.

The side of me that enjoys chaos and pain says we trade Zacha for Puljujarvi, Zacha scores 30 goals in Edmonton and Puljujarvi does nothing with us.

I'd take another season of Zacha's inconsistency versus taking a chance on Puljujarvi.

I feel like Zacha could do very well with a change of scenery. Don't see that upside with Puljujarvi.

Definitely interesting. I wonder how much less interest there'd be in Pulju if we didn't all just watch Nichushkin single-handedly wreck Tampa's top line en route to the Stanley Cup. Their careers and scouting reports are strikingly similar up to this point.

Puljujarvi is deemed “a play killer” inside the Oilers dressing room, it is believed, where two of the best centremen in the world have not been enough to turn Puljujarvi into a legitimate Top 6 winger in the NHL. The puck dies on his stick in the offensive zone too often to continue to saddle Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl with such a winger on a regular basis.

So many former beer league teammates came to mind when I read that description of Puljujarvi.

Add Gaudreau, Puljujarvi, Copp, and Slafkovsky all in the same offseason.

Gaudreau - Hughes - Bratt
Sharangovich - Hischier - Puljujarvi
Slafkovsky - Copp - Holtz
Zetterlund - McLeod - Bastian
Boqvist
Where are Mercer and Wood? Put Zetterlund on the third line over Holtz next season and maybe it makes more sense? I struggle to see Wood and Mercer both gone

You are really loading us up at the "A" level. Mercer should help make them a powerhouse.

I might actually be ok with it if Zacha succeeds there. Western conference team so it won't hurt us much, and if he can't succeed even there it proves we were right to cut bait.

I'd be less happy with it if we brought in Puljujarvi and he didn't produce. Hischer and Hughes aren't McDrai, but they're clearly top line centers who make their linemates better. Maybe we don't need or want Puljujarvi in a top 6 role though.
