We love to bash Dubas here, but let's move our lens to somewhere else for a moment. Then have a pause and moment of silence. Then we can burst into maniac lauhter. Bruins extended Sweeney!

They had most enviable cap situation for over half a decade and couldn't win another cup. Their top line cost basicly nothing, they had prime Krejci and Rask. They drafted McAvoy and Pastrnak in latter part of first round, outrun every bit of Zdeno Chara and had three first rounder in one draft, which they used for DeBrusk, Zboril and Senyshyn. Instead of Barzal, Connor and Chabot.

Architect and mastermind behind most of this will continue his journey in Boston.

Great.

I think it's great that nobody decent wanted to coach in Winnipeg and they got stuck with a guy who has a 212-351-28 record. f*** that organization

Wonder if he has any interest in spending 8 months of the year on the road anymore?

He wouldn't need the money.

I think it would be more about ego than anything. Being fired by Toronto and then the stuff that came out after.

Figured he’d want to say f*** you and try to win elsewhere

Now that Kadri’s won a cup and proven his haters wrong, I wonder if he’ll just go wherever and take the biggest payday.

I have a suspicion Seattle might be where he ends up. They want to spend in UFA and the fit/need is there.

I imagine it’s more likely Babcock has no interest

Yeah, I'd think it would have to be an ideal opportunity to win the Cup, for 59 year old, Triple Goal Medal Babcock.

Another might be some teams, in the current environment, not wanting

Criticism

Since his tenure with the Maple Leafs ended, Babcock has faced criticism for his management style and his treatment of his players. Johan Franzén, who played for Babcock in Detroit, praised Babcock's preparation and tactical acuity as a coach, but called him a "terrible man, the worst person I've ever met" and accused Babcock of verbally abusing him, which was corroborated by former teammate Chris Chelios.[26] Babcock was also accused of mistreating Mitch Marner during his rookie season, by asking him to rank his teammates in order of their work ethic and later sharing the list with the rest of the team. Babcock confirmed the incident after it was reported, expressing his regret and stating that he had apologized to Marner at the time.[27]

Babcock has been accused of scratching players ahead of games that are of personal significance, such as removing Mike Modano from the lineup prior to his 1500th game,[28] and not playing Jason Spezza in the Maple Leafs opening night game against his former team the Ottawa Senators.[29]

No doubt not every team would want him but to think no one league wide would be interested isn’t realistic.

I'd imagine there's at least one GM interested in him. But Babs would have to accept a contract a fraction of what he was given before.

Oh, I'm sure some team would, but not every team, and if they're already a contender for the Cup, perhaps they don't want that baggage?

And as I suggested he'd probably only take on a job that has a better than even chance to win it all.

His Leafs contract probably made him more than most NHL players will in their career.
