And there are more than 2 cases. Those are just the 2 most recent, surfacing in a day.
Gotta wonder why it’s always the same guys rushing to the defense of other guys they don’t even know when these stories pop up over and over and over again. Almost like they feel threatened. Weird.

I just think there should be evidence when people are accused of crimes.

Okay. So if I called you a pedophile, that means it could be true right?
Are you claiming that Bandit had sexual interactions with you when you were a minor?

Calling someone a pedophile is much different than actually ringing the bell of acts he did to you.

And yes, of course it needs to be investigated. The problem is the default response of not taking claims seriously, victim blaming, hand waving, or other tactics to diminish the event. Because we know sexual assault DOES happen, and it gets buried under the rug just because someone can play hockey well.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from the conduct of the players and the front offices, barring a few exceptions, the worst thing you can be in this league is a bad hockey player.

I still firmly believe you shouldn't punish the players for what their home country did.

I still firmly believe that the same zero-compromise strategy that was employed towards South Africa during apartheid should be employed today. Hopefully, it's only a matter of time.

I’m sure you also think that just because you don’t know about it DEFINITELY means it doesn’t exist.
This is it. I highly doubt an internet accusation is the sole reason he got suspended otherwise we could get Eichel benched for the opener quite easily. They had a little time to do some due diligence before they made the decision and I presume concluded it warranted a proper investigation. That does not mean he is guilty by any means, just that they feel the accusation to some degree should be treated as credible.

These things are never simple and as usual most people take the straw man stance on guilt or innocence. Reading the statement, it did come across as a properly thought out account and read as if it has some basis in fact at least. It gave enough details to make me think that an investigation would be inevitable. However you can’t condemn the guy solely on my (or anyones) gut feeling.

I’m in the middle on this. If players come out a renounce what is happening then they should be allowed to play. If they continue to be part of the propaganda machine (some are most definitely) then I don’t think they should be allowed to play. I don’t think that’s likely though.

There are bigger issues around this whole thing but there is growing discord within Russia and if sports stars turned their back on Putin it certainly wouldn’t help him. The only thing likely to stop what is happening is internal pressure within Russia, because internationally there seems to be no way for Putin to save face. I certainly understand the Czech stance with the NHL because they remember the effects of what Putin has started and they are terrified this is just the start.

Because of my size I’ve been overlooked my whole career.

Just insane that he fell to where he did in the draft.

Since he entered the NHL as a teenager (not even old enough to buy a beer!) he has scored at a 36 goal pace counting every game. Including two 41 goal-seasons and the Covid season where he scored at a 50 goal pace.

The players with more goals than DeBrincat since he entered the league

Ovechkin
McDavid
MacKinnon
Matthews
Pastranak
Draisaitl

For every cat there is like 10 guys who can't do it. But his numbers were absolutely crazy in Jr.

Normally, I would say 10 years ago a small player like him wouldn't make it. But with his skillset I think he would succeed in any era.
