Irish hurling (vomit jokes aside) is one on my favourites. Rightly called "the fastest sport on grass", it's like a mix of hockey, lacrosse, and rugby, and is wildly entertaining.
Fun to watch no doubt but I wouldn't be looking for a club to join.

Good point.
Boston is right up at the cap according to capfriendly. They have 9 ufas expiring this year and 2 reasons. These ufas will want raises to stay.
They have to downgrade a number of these players to be able to keep Pasta, if he wants to get paid his worth.
They'll also have a 4.5m hit on their cap next year from the performance bonuses on the Bergeron and Krejci contracts this year.

I absolutely hate Boston for doing this. Somehow they get players less than market value
Lindholm is a total steal and Hall is not bad for a secondary scoring for the money he's getting paid

Hall has been a minus player all his life except for that one MVP season. He's been a plus player with Boston for past 3 years

I've seen it live, although quite some time ago now. My wife has family in Dublin.
First time I saw it was watching the finals in a pub in Galway (Galway vs Kilkenny) many years ago.

My wife and I watch at least the finals every year.

Last year my son was on a trip there, and in a pub (where else?) ran into a guy he'd played baseball and hockey with (and I coached) as kids. Small world.

I would die with envy if Pasta signs again with another sweet contract

There is no place more boring than Toronto to watch a sporting event.
One of the ACC games I went to was Tampa in 2010, both Stamkos and St. Louis scored(those two were amazing to watch.), but the Leafs won it in OT. Both teams went back and forth the atmosphere was actually very good.

The other games I attended were pretty much dead, although they were all Leafs victories.

You should start getting your affairs in order because you know it's going to happen.
His worth at 11 or more, so it will be interesting to see what the number will be. Boston didn't cash out with Pasta like they did with Bergeron and Marchand. Pasta peaked right before his contract is up, which is nice. If they would have gone with 5 year contract they would have got him for way better price. Thank god it was 6 year contract.

Didn't Brad Marchand once say the Bruins players don't mind taking less money for the good of the team? If so let's see if that's true with Pastrnak? I know that Charlie McAvoy is a Defensemen, however is he worth $9.5 million AAV and realistically Pastrnak should get at least $11 million AAV.

It's easy for Marchand to say, when he signed right before he really break trough and it must have been pretty painful realization, that he left tons of money on the table. Same happened with Bergeron, but I also think that at the same time it built up that culture there. I think McAvoy is paid accordingly and I hope Pasta will get his money.

The thing with McAvoy being paid $9.5 million AAV is that after he signed is when Morgan Rielly signed his contract extension with Toronto and agreed to $7.5 million AAV over 8 years, which is the same length. Prior to that Rielly saw the contracts Defensemen who would have been UFA's were signing, and he accepted $2 million less.

Pasta probably should be looking at close to a league high aav when he's signed if he opts to chase the money. Panarin hit around 14ish % of the cap when he signed his most recent contract as a comparison

Pastrnak is also currently 2nd in the league with 32 goals and could possibly win a second Rocket Richard Trophy.

I also think another player comparison in terms of their contract and what they signed for was Nathan MacKinnon. He signed an extension with Colorado in the offseason for 8 years at $12.6 million AAV that starts during the 2023-24 Season. His current contract that he's playing under right now was for 7 years and $6.3 million AAV.

Even though Colorado just won a Stanley Cup you didn't see him give them a hometown discount.

If he hits the open market, it's not out of the realm of possibility he gets the leagues highest aav if there's enough buyers

Maybe the team who doesn't sign Patrick Kane will turn their attention Pastrnak and try to sign him. Assuming he becomes a UFA on July 1, 2023.
Imagine Hawks winning the draft with Bedard. Then Toews resigns for like 3-4mil while Kane signs for 8mil. Then they go and sign Horvat and Pasta.
Talk about a top heavy team.

Not sure about way better price. He would still be one of the best goal-scorers in the league with the Rocket trophy.

12.6 for Marner is reasonable on this board but we starting at 11 with Pasta calling it market :D

hasn't every team Hall has ever played for been a Minus team before Boston?

Maybe part of their plan to get Bedard. 🤔

True lol. But the age and upside should've made him more attractive to a few teams who weren't supposed to tank I guess. He was already a solid defensive forward who could have slotted onto a 3rd line and then moved up if he ever unlocked his offensive potential. Seemed like a low risk, medium-high reward

Ottawa, who lacks depth up front, should've been all over this I think.
