What is Canucks' management game plan here this season? They aren't tanking. They are really bad as team. New coach shine and worn off quite some time ago. Are they content with a 10th or 11th pick? Their stars are not performing or maybe everyone overhyped Peterson?

Today against Pitt, they blow a three goal lead. Its 5-3 Pitt midway third. Getting badly outshot. This team needs a overhaul.

Caught a few minutes of the Sabres-Kraken game. While I admittedly wish misfortune on the Sabres most of the time, I will say it's a bit nice their fans have something to cheer for finally.
I sincerely hope Sabres, Wings and Habs just miss the playoffs as with the new rules, teams can only move up at most 10 places in the draft.

Tread water and hope they either get a lucky streak or just do just well enough to avoid getting fired

I am 100% sure Rutherford wants to build his version of the team and he is just waiting for teams to overpay and willing to risk getting nothing if players get injured.
Kuzmenko, Horvat, Schenn, Myers, Garland, and even Lazar are players he should try to trade now while they are healthy and doing well instead of waiting till TDL.

The Canucks are in a bad spot. The owner doesn't care about winning, and has opposed a rebuild for years now. They have some good pieces but the team construction is terrible. Also Dim Jim Benning set them back with all his horrible moves.

Rocket Race is pretty tight:

McDavid - 34 (GR 40)
Pastrnak - 32 (GR 42)
Thompson - 31 (GR 43)
Horvat - 29 (GR 42)
Robertson - 29 (GR 40)
Ovechkin - 29 (GR 39)
Rantanen - 27 (GR 43)
Hughes - 26 (GR 41)

Pasta or Tage are gonna win it.
If McDavid continues to have no cares about playing defence, it's his to lose.

Edmonton will be out of a playoff spot, but that appears to be a trade he's willing to make.

Actually, I think the Nucks owners care about winning too much and that’s why they are opposed to a rebuild.

This Edmonton fan is definitely not happy about how things going these days:

it's not like Thompson or Pastrnak are defensive juggernauts either though. I also don't think it's really fair to blame McDavid for Edmonton missing the playoffs, it's a very poorly built roster and he's doing the best he can with minimal help

I mean sure, we can pretend his goal is to help his team, not to improve his stats as much as possible.

He is playing 23 min a game while they are under 20.

If there was a scale with the Selke Trophy winner on one end, this season McDavid is it for the other end.

btw +20 and +15 , name one player in league history who was considered a defensive juggernaut among Rocket trophy winners/runner-ups.

If you think McDavis is trying to pad his stats and not trying to win you are sorely mistaken.

He knows who is behind him and knows full well their best chance to win is if they put up 4.

Their structure is weak and they are top heavy like the Leafs but without reliable goaltending and D.

If he cut down his production, he would have to turn into the undisputed Selke winner to even out the lack of scoring
