And haters will complain he doesn’t play Defence, lol.

To be fair and it’s not his fault…he’s great, but his team hasn’t really won shit. I do not consider barely getting by the second worst team in the playoffs to dust a suspect provincial rival, only to get smoked by the eventual champs as ‘winning something’, no matter how many points he got. Tampa would take out the Oil in 5.

Crosby was four years younger and had one Cup and one finals appearance.

Now you want to talk about Draisaitl’s ‘defense’, okay, we have something there.

This.

I don't hate McDavid, but I don't consider him the be all, end all either. The Oilers reaching the WCF, well good for them but it means very little. The series was over after the first game. This is a team who barely got out of the first round, and then faced a goalie who shit the bed. Let's see how far they go with Campbell between the pipes.

Maybe so but swapping out that Crosby with McDavid and leaving the exact same team still leaves you with a poorly constructed team.

Crosby wouldn't be winning anything there other than scoring titles.

If his season continues this way it doesn't appear Campbell will be between the pipes in the payoffs.

For Crosby's first Cup, Malkin was only a year older and won the Conn Smythe.
They did have 21 year old Letang and 23 year old Fleury.

Playoffs since 2015.

Yep. Crosby wouldn't be winning any Cups the way this Oilers team is currently constructed. You can't pin that on McDavid but I was always puzzled why he signed the contract he did.

I always figured he'd go shorter on the years to see what the GMs could do before committing long term.

From McDavids point of view, his young team littered with high end picks just made the playoffs for the first time in a while and lost in game 7 of a 2nd round series and the future looked very bright before he signed.

No doubt he regrets it now but it didn't look that awful at the time.

Thompson's breakout came out of nowhere .. He was mismanaged early in his career but put the work in when he went back to the A and has figured it out.

The ROR trade looked lopsided for a few years, especially after St Louis won the cup and the players received by Buffalo did nothing.

But that trade is evening out now quickly.
Having a guy like Dahlin back there is helping Tage a lot too. Not only is Dahlin great and finding the right time to get Tage the puck on those one timers (and puts the puck usually right on his stick), Dahlin is almost never making a mistake anymore getting the puck out of the zone to the forwards. He might be turning into the best D-man in the game at clearing his zone and getting the puck to the forwards in good position up ice.

McD is on another level compare to any other players in the league.
I do give him credits in playoffs bc he was phenomenal, you can’t discredit 35pts(I think) in one playoffs.

She is making the rounds with our legends.

Maybe Willie will be next.

I remember when Kaut was high on my list of draft players in 2018... Benson was also a very good name.

It is funny how bad Colorado is at developing prospects.

They just had a bunch of high picks and were able to trade for the rest.

To be fair to Coloroado, none of the forwards from the middle of the first round that year have amounted to much. Thos guys are now 4 years into their career, more of them should be making an impact. Of all the forwards taken who were on the board when he was taken in the next 3 rounds, only Isac Lundestrom (ANA) has more than 20 career goals and he barely qualfies at 23 in 175 games. Looking like a very week draft outside of Dahlin, Svechnikov and Tkachuk.
