I think Babcock is an excellent hire for the Blue Jackets.

In hindsight -- and maybe not so much -- I think he got punted way too early here in Toronto.

Babcock was let go at the right time. Leafs were wasting a year if they continued with Babcock. Everything that has happened after that just shows players were a problem but Babcock was as well. Even though the team overall didn't achieve what they wanted after him, it doesn't make the Babcock firing a mistake.

that sums up the Leafs. Bennett takes a shot at the tender and 4 knights swarm him. Leafs would have skated away and backed down. Hopefully Tree changes the core philosophy of this team and it's attack and defend your teamates

I don't disagree. There were certain things he did which stagnated the team and neutered its best players.

Four years later though, similar issues exist. I don't think the team really is any further ahead, despite the team and talent put together over that time.

I believed Babcock when he said it was going to be a process over his 8-year contract, and I continue to believe that it would have been the case and he would have gotten there.

We'll never been know, obviously. It's just as much frustration saying it with the team still spinning its wheels with only a Round 1 win to its name since.
