Thing is, Seattle had that success while receiving some of the worst goaltending in the league. Both of their goalies were below .900sv%. I think they'll be fine if they continue to play the way they do. Beniers will be a great 2-way 1C sooner rather than later.

NHL hits a another scheduling homerun.

Game 2 on Monday.
Game 3 on Thursday.

At this point they just want everyone to forget about the NHL playoffs.

NBA probably plays on Wednesday. Way better off giving an extra day off then trying to compete for ratings with them. Let alone with Miami Heat being in the NBA finals

Plus it's a travel break going west to east. Players probably appreciate it.

Latest on Flames coaching candidates

The Flames this week have begun interviewing coaching candidates and reached out to free-agent coach Gerard Gallant to feel him out on the idea of coaching in Calgary. The answer from Gallant, according to league sources, was yes. So the veteran coach will be part of the Flames’ interview process at some point.

Other names to consider, as mentioned last week in my Craig Conroy column, include internal options Ryan Huska and Mitch Love. I should have also mentioned veteran Kirk Muller, another internal candidate. Another intriguing one, pushed forward by TSN colleague Darren Dreger during our Insider Trading segment Tuesday, was that of Marc Savard, head coach of the OHL’s Windsor Spitfires, although his lack of experience probably would work against him at this stage.

It goes without saying there are other candidates, as well.

Every year.

They should aim to have the playoffs done by the end of May. Weather gets too nice outside to really care when it's not your team.

It's really too bad the playoffs seem to end with a whimper every year. Instead of the later rounds being elevated to something special like the Super Bowl, it's like a speech that's gone on too long and the crowd starts talking among itself.

Thought I'd share this just for fun, one of my favorite hockey quotes of all time. :)

”Pelle Lindbergh had suffered from dehydration in the past, so coach Mike Keenan gave him a water bottle, which the goalie kept on top of the goal during games. No netminder ever had done this before, and the league never objected.
Edmonton coach Glen Sather unleashed one of the more comically famous quotes in Stanley Cup history the day before Game 2 of the 1985
Stanley Cup Finals.
"Maybe we want a bucket of chicken on our net," he said. "Maybe hamburgers. I mean, if you have a water bottle out there, let's have lunch."

I liked him, always had something interesting to say. Would be great here.

No way

edit: apparently it's true. Good for all of them
Wow. I don't know how I feel about that as a sometimes Pens fan. I though he could be good there as the GM because they apparently are going to stick with Crosby and Malkin into the grave and Kyle has shown great skill at working around poorly allocated salary to create highly competitive teams. In the chair above that I'm not as sure but I honestly don't know what makes a great club president.

He hasn't been a team builder here in that the big parts existed already but seems to have been given much credit for expanding the organization and it seems like the Pens could use some of that. The good news is it will be the club's GM that has to solve goaltending issues. Good luck Kyle and Pittsburgh!

Edit - Speaking of goalies perhaps he would be interested in the pens re-aquiring Murray!

They have a "whos the next goalie" poll on the Penguins board and Murray is an option. Please go do your duty but no posts there okay? We need to be subtle :)
