Have the Leafs also had some really poor luck lately? The last 4 teams the Leafs played in the playoffs went onto the Stanley Cup finals.
Just be glad we didn’t play Florida in the 1st round.

These guys woke up after Keith called them soft on TSN radio. We need Paul to call out the Leafs for being p***yes.
You don’t want to put shambles in their heads by doing that.

TSN (I think?) has an article floating around about the league and the PA meeting to discuss the possibility of going beyond 1 million next year, didnt strike me as promising, something in it about PA unwilling to make compromises for higher cap.

Here’s hoping tho.
Definitely think we'd be one of those teams that'd benefit heavily.

lots of Teams it would benefit, lots of Teams could use the extra cap.
Any one more then us though, given the combined situation of 10 UFA's, 1 goalie too many, and unlimited resources to spend to whatever number they put out there?

The 24-25 year is more important though.

Boston comes to mind they have 8 UFA's, plus a few RFA's , plus they have the 4.5 Million penalty for giving those team friendly deals to Bergeron, and Kreici lol

don't know if we really have unlimited resources.

mlse seemed very upset that they're still paying babcock.

it makes sense when you think about it. is there any corporation on earth cheaper than rogers and bell? they'll nickel and dime anyone and anything. shameless.

Eww, ya, Boston is in tough with the penalties, you're right. You wonder if Bergeron and Kreici are done and make it a little easier.

Every year for like 5 years I have figured it was the last kick at the can for them and they keep proving me wrong, no idea what to expect.

I guess most of the big market teams will appreciate as big a jump as possible, we're all right up on the cap with our own versions of next year pressures.

They're only paying him another 35 days, they should be thrilled. We haven't not been paying someone to not work for the Leafs in I don't know how long, if anyone wants to look that up it's an interesting question. Kessel and Babcock, but does it go further back? I feel like it does.

I don't understand why physicality has been so shamed by some of our fanbase the past 5-7 years.

Not everyone that asks for increased physicality is some knuckle dragging dinosaur or want's the team to become a goon squad.

To act like physicality, a heavy forecheck and having the opposing teams defenders know that if they go back and retrieve pucks they will have to brace for a hit has no value seems like a big oversight.

Go ask Morgan Rielly if he'd rather play a series against a heavy forechecking team that is consistently finishing their checks vs a team that he knows he'll be able to skate back, grab the puck and not ever really have to deal with getting crunched and he will take option 2 every single time.

That Bennett hit last night took Slavin right out of the game and it was a perfectly clean bodycheck. Can you imagine if that play happened in game 1 and they had to play a entire series either without him or where he was injured?

This stuff accumulates over a 7 game series and sometimes you don't see the true benefits until late in the series where you've worn the other defense down so much that they start making tons of mistakes under pressure or they've just had enough and just allow you to get to the puck first.

We need Skill and Speed as the basis of our team but I also think we need more balance in the consistency of physicality and forechecking presence.

Everything with the leafs nation is zero sum

Physical means you have to bring goons back or nothing at all
If you talk about bringing a GM with some experience, it means you are bringing in a dinasaur
Nothing in between

Acciari and Schenn were perfect examples of being physical without being over the top

Josh Anderson is someone I think of who can play and be physical. Someone I really want in this team but that contract is horrondus
He's the perfect player to go against Bennett and Tkachuk of the worlds
