Yea, not impressed with his answer..

This is the most important things in our lives. Not my life but a lot of those guys don't have kids.

What does that even mean? Does he think that was a great way to say they tried hard?

Watch out now... GMs are going to start acquiring players based on whether they have kids or not now.

Can't speak for the Jets, because I didn't watch their playoff games, but Carolina is a really good 5-on-5 team and the Islanders were actually a fair bit better than Carolina at 5-on-5 in that series... Which is the opposite of what you would expect from the regular season. Now they were missing Svechnikov for the entire series and Teravainen/Drury for most of it but other than Aho, Carolina had practically nothing going at ES.

Islanders' woes start and end with their PP. Not that other things didn't need to be better if they expected to win, but they could have easily made the conference finals again if their PP was even just mediocre.

Admittedly, only caught a couple of games of the Carolina series. But looking at the underlying stats, Carolina was the better team 5 on 5 even though NYI scored more goals. Sorokin has been one of the better goalies in the playoffs while the Canes received average goaltending from Raanta and Freddy was solid last night

Jets are a mess. A lot of issues within that room. You have guys that don’t want to be there, you have guys that get their ego in the way of the team. You have a guy like Dubois who has literally told the world that he wants to be back home in Montreal. Helly doesn’t want to be on a rebuilding team. Just blow it up

Murray and a 1st for Helle...get it done, Dubas!

Florida's Montour has been a revelation on Florida's series against Boston. His natural athleticism is so explosive and works really well with Florida's gonzo roller derby style of play. Maybe not a fit everywhere but in Florida it just works.

I wonder if he would take a bit of a discount to play here. I know there was talk that he would have to be paid as the top goalie to stay in Winnipeg

This. He’s allowed to do what he wants, in Buffalo they tried to make him into something he wasn’t. Maurice and co. Took the leash off and he’s taken off

It is a bit misleading with Carolina because their entire game plan is to throw as much as possible at the net. You would expect them to have better underlying numbers but the fact that they didn't dominate possession (like 60 CF%) against a team like the Islanders (who have pretty much the opposite philosophy) and they lost in HDCF is a bit of a disappointment for them.

Of course getting outscored there is also not a good thing for them.

Carolina needs to hope they can get healthy, because I don't think they will fair well in the 2nd round and beyond. Thing is, Rangers and Jersey haven't looked all that great either.

Considering they're missing key forwards, I think the Canes were fine. I do agree about them in the 2nd round as NJ can dominate possession and chances like they're currently doing against an uninspired NYR team. NJ won't be facing Shesterkin, who has been arguably the best goalie of the playoffs, in the 2nd round either.

If NYR moves on, it might resemble the Isles series for the Canes

Unfortunately, I don't think they are getting Svechnikov or Teravainen back so they need to figure it out.

I mean I get it .. Kids/family always comes first but his wording and context was terrible... he used it as an excuse for a poor performance.

Zero accountability shown by the players, just puts it all on the coach

He said that the players in the room were only living for the game because they don't have kids. Since when do rich single young men ... Only live for their work? Heck.. Babs always loved the married guys with family.
