Would rather have Kessel on our third line than any of our current third liners tbh. We signed NAK who is useless because he was in the room of a cup winner and yet Kessel can actually contribute, was cheaper than a guy like Jarnkrok, was a key part including being robbed of the Smythe in multiple cups, AND he did it playing in the same role he would have here.

Instead we have 6 players in the bottom 6 who don't score but also seem to do absolutely nothing aside from skate. No physicality, ok defensively but not enough to be relied on, decent penalty killers but nothing special.

This offseason really was the first time I didn't understand a lot of Dubas' moves. It seemed almost ego driven which is uncharacteristic of Dubas. Like he wants to win only with the players he wants playing key roles.

Kessel didn't want to come back

I think dubas would've blindly given him 1.5M or whatever he makes

I wanted him back badly tbh but he's not about dealing with the pressure cooker and shitshow that the 2023 TML are

Dubas did make some strange moved this summer (not dealing holl+kerfoot and going after a david perron or 2 3M wingers for the top 9 were strange imo)

But I don't think Kessel wanted to come back especially after dubas/shanny/Babcock were the management group that dealt him out
