Agreed. you also never know with Chychrun's injuries. Hes been an injury concern his entire career, even dating back to junior. Not often do players shake that tag

Boston Bruins left winger Brad Marchand exited Thursday's win over the Buffalo Sabres with a lower-body injury, the team announced. Here's what you need to know: It's unclear when exactly Marchand sustained the injury. He did not finish the second period and did not return for the start of the third.

Sneaky good team.
Very explosive when they’re on.
All without Josh Norris.

They did the same thing last year. Went on a late surge after expectations were gone.

If they change DJ Smith and bolster their defensive depth and get healthy goaltending, they might start to really make noise.

Wow browsing through the OOT thread in the Oilers forum from last night is seriously hilarious. Talk about the Leafs living rent free in their heads.

Some hot takes...
- McCabe a terrible addition to the Leafs
- made too many changes and now they suck even worse
- Toronto has so many D but Edmontons D is way better than Toronto's
- Matthews sucks
- Getting swept in the first round

MAN it is too easy to hate that ridiculous fan base. Should we tell them they have 1 guy carrying their team, and without him they're not even a wildcard team? All those 1st overall picks and if McD goes down they're back in the lottery hunt? Or better to leave them be in a cloud of cluelessness and misguided arrogance? I honestly don't hate the team but their fans are mostly complete morons.

They have their own forum?

I think they are doing what they always do...mailing it in until the playoffs.
I've been one of the biggest proponent of saying "don't judge TBL till the playoffs" but they have major concerns tbh

McDonagh was a catastrophic loss they haven't recovered from. He took all of their tough matchups and slid the rest of the defensive core into assignments they could dominate. One of the most underrated defenseman of his generation

With him gone, everyone is playing up a spot. This would be alright if Hedman was playing as a top tier defenseman, but he's not. He's actually been one of the worst defenseman in his own zone this year. So they're getting lit up and the advanced stats show a drop off in their xGA%

Their hope is either Hedman returns to form, or Vasi goes God mode. Both are very possible, but I'd count on the latter more

So status quo then? Those idiots care more about the Leafs than their own team.

Wait til Oilers fans realize Campbell has never gotten past the opening round as a starter. Let them continue blowing McDavid. The tears will be incredible when he finally walks.

Ignorance is maybe one of the saddest things there is. If this is what they crave (sugar instead of nutrients), then let them fill their boots with it.

I feel sorry for them.

Seems many Leaf fans are just as obsessed with the Oilers as their fans are with the Leafs.
Maybe. I went in there because we were playing the Flames and we know how much Oiler fans love the flames. Was curious to see their reactions to the final score but didn't expect pages and pages of leaf bashing. I guess I should expect that though.

Any Canadian teams around the league thread is filled with Leaf bashing lol. Just as 75% of the comments about the Leafs on the main board.

They are the equivalent of Keeping up with the Kardashians. The trash of society.

One loss to the Jets and they will all be on suicide watch.

Maybe I haven't paid as much attention to it in previous years, but does it not seem that an unusually high number of these deals that have been completed recently have involved salary retention?

The covid cap crunch.

All deals signed before it hit had the expected rise in the cap more or less baked into them (projected 10 millionish higher than now) so retention is needed from almost all competitive teams to make their moves.

Add in the fact the conferences are so imbalanced that it creates an arms race and voila.

Chychrun gives them a big piece on the back end .. They have a nice top 4 now:

Chychrun-Chabot
Sanderson-Zub

Sanderson needs some time to grow though.

They're benefitting from Giroux having a career year as well. He's 35 with 2 years left on his deal, how that plays out is a big factor. Getting Norris back will help as will Stutzle's growth.

They need goaltending and improved depth but they're set up well for the future

They have their own forum?
