That Rangers rebuild sure is memey.

They had Hank for 20 years, immediately after he goes they have Shesterkin(?) to take his place.

They sign Trouba to a huge deal (note: he makes more than Rielly, post extension) expecting him to be their franchise D, and he's now currently a #3 - the same as the guy they traded for him with a 1st.

But it's okay - they found this kid who only wanted to play for them and got him for a second. Last year is the only Norris Trophy he's ever going to win but he still has one.

This should move things along - 2019 2nd overall and 2020 1st overall picks, sweet!

The 2nd was Kakko, who's worse than Kotkaniemi and was basically the bigger kid who can skate fast who you used to play with when you were young.

I'm aware he was drafted out of Liiga, but let's not act like playing in a third-rate men's league when you're just a 6'3 200 17 year old kid is some sort of achievement.

Look at that 2019 draft and the players taken 3-10, who don't you pick ahead of him? Maybe Broberg, and that's about it.

Lafreniere, 67-15-10-25 is piss poor for even an undersized 1st overall, and Laf is 6'2 195. I bet Mitch would have spiked those numbers if he came up 2015-16.

I don't think they were expecting to get Eichel-Matthews, but they probably expected more than Bennett-Zacha or RNH-Drouin.

Your top picks, especially your 1-3 overall picks, aren't guys who you draft and let develop for 3-4 years - they're ready now, or next year. And they don't need to 'improve their game' - they play and process the game at the pro level already. Kakko and Lafreniere are still young, but I don't have a lot of hope.

...but it's okay, because Panarin is a franchise winger and wants to come here, so get him!

No center? No problem! Let's just have the middle-six center we got for a song develop into an above average #1 center in this league. You want to win you need to do better at #1C than Zibanejad, but he's still the 12th-18th best C in the game.

But is it ok? Zib and Panarin are 28 and 30, both have years left, and players come out of nowhere all the time (Zib and Panarin...).

Their D and G are set, but now I think they're too good to properly scoop up those elite forwards - 95% of the game's elite forwards came in the top five picks of the draft.

I disagree on a couple things but this is a top tier post and I laughed like 4 times, good shit

Can also see he has 22 pts in the sport of hockey for the year. Second to his teammate Drai and will be 1st by year end.

This is after 3 Ross/hart/Lindsay seasons in his first 6

No comparison between him and any player to ever wear a Leafs uniform
To be fair though you can kinda see the massive f***ing wall the Oilers are going to run into the second they hit the playoffs. They are being fed powerplays like damn candy right now...and their powerplay is running at a unsustainable rate, even for players like that. But they hit the playoffs and all of a sudden the PP's are gonna dry right up and well...we saw what happened last year.

I can’t take a top 4 D-core that has Barrie, Ceci, and the shell of Duncan Keith seriously

Also Nurse is averaging 26 minutes per game….

Anderson honeymoon is over got pulled out în the first after 4 goals

McDavid is the type of once in a generation player who can make up for the lack of defensive depth

Having the 2nd best player in the NHL behind McDavid gives them an unmatchable 1-2 punch

If hyman/RNH/Puljuarvi even olay at around 50% if what they are giving now that'll be a scary offense

McDavid is in his prime and will get a soft matchup in the 1st round. He's got a legit shot at ending the GOAT and passing Gretzky. He'll be hungry to start winning in the playoffs now.

I don't see the Oilers losing before ethe WCF at earliest. Best team in the pacific with the Knights injuries and struggles this year

There are four teams in the Atlantic that could finish first in the pathetic division the Oilers play in.

While probably true it is irrelevant

NHL has always had stronger and weaker divisions/conferences

Pacific sucks, but McDavid and Draisaitl will tear it up against any team. McDavid has 22 in 10 and just destroyed the Rangers last game

The Oilers team is a playoff contender in any division. No team has an answer for stopping two historically great offensive players at a consistent basis

You are getting high off the Oilers hype my guy. McDavid is the best player in the league no doubt and it isn't that close. You are a Leaf fan and should be pretty well aware of how the game changes in the playoffs. The Oilers have no defense and two question marks in net. The got swept by the Jets in the 1st round literally last summer. Life is going to get significantly harder for the Oilers come playoff time. That is just a fact. They also will not continue to score at 50% on the PP. If you want to sniff that glue more power to you, but the Oilers are the same flawed team, they are just beating up on a dog shit conference while riding a historic heater on the PP.

Well see come playoffs.

I don't care for the Oilers. I am firmly on the McDavid and Draisaitl train. I expect 97 will end as the GOAT and Draisaitl a top 15-20 player all time.

We are expecting similar playoff dominance from our big 4 despite them being locked up during the 3 years they've been together. I expect the big 4 figure it out this year, and same for 97+29 for the Oilers

Crosby/Malkin werent able to put it together until they built depth around them

2008 and 2009 there wasn't much depth and they made back to back finals, winning 1 cup

Also Hyman is a big depth add. Puljuarvi taking another step and RNH being in form, fogele is a quality bottom 6 player as well.

Oilers are deeper than there past teams and 97 and 29 look better/hungrier than they were in the past

But that D and goaltending....

That 09 Pittsburgh team lacked forward depth but had a solid deep D and good goaltending.

Oilers could easily make a run because of the division and if the win a couple of playoff series that could get some momentum going.

But there are definitely some legit questions with that team

Don't know what their cap situation is but they could solidify their goaltending and D at the TDL if Holland thinks this is the year he should go all in. Wonder what he would pay for Soupy if he became available.

They have about 1.2 mill in LTIR space which will not accumulate.

Pretty ugly contracts to Kassian, Keith, Ceci and Koskinen taking up almost 20 mill

I don't think the Oilers go into the playoffs with their current team if they're still flying high.

Defender by ice-time:
Nurse, Bouchard, Ceci, Keith, Barrie, Russel, Koekoek

Ceci got too much dislike here, he's probably a number 4, and he is only 27 years old, it isn't like he's a 27 year Holl.

If they fall back to earth, and in their division they might not.

oilers have had a easy schedule so far. The only good team they have faced so far was the flyers and they lost that game.
hell, they almost lost against rangers who were using their struggling back up goalie.

I wanna see them against bruins, Tampa, Florida, islander, hurricanes, avs, blues and even the leafs before I start considering them a legit cup contender.

they do have the killer instinct though.

That McDavid 1 on 4 goal was very nice but my favorite 1 on 4 is still Matthews 2nd career goal in his debut game against the Sens. Thanks to beach ball Freddy, we still lost that game in OT.

Avs dont look good eh?

Imagine this team's struggles flew that under the radar...
Their fan base in here sure likes to troll leafs fans so it’s hilarious how they have been hiding. Obviously we can’t post like they do but I’m quietly laughing and hoping they keep losing.

The Oilers will face a predictable problem in the playoffs. Aside from the fact their pp sh% will have normalized, they'll also be simply less of them called.

Then McDavid will get double teamed while dealing with uncalled inference/roughing/cross checks (due to the "let them play" rule bending in the postseason).

That's not to say they can't or won't make a deep run. I just wouldn't bank on it being a lock. As we've seen time and time again even good teams can end up getting stonewalled by a medicine opponent whom l gets hot at the right time

?????

did you miss the last 7 years? Better than gretzky?

you think that a team with star players surrounded by hyman. Barrie. Ceci will win?

guess you were a big fan of when dubas did that. For literally half the price.
