That Rangers rebuild sure is memey.
They had Hank for 20 years, immediately after he goes they have Shesterkin(?) to take his place.
They sign Trouba to a huge deal (note: he makes more than Rielly, post extension) expecting him to be their franchise D, and he's now currently a #3 - the same as the guy they traded for him with a 1st.
But it's okay - they found this kid who only wanted to play for them and got him for a second. Last year is the only Norris Trophy he's ever going to win but he still has one.
This should move things along - 2019 2nd overall and 2020 1st overall picks, sweet!
The 2nd was Kakko, who's worse than Kotkaniemi and was basically the bigger kid who can skate fast who you used to play with when you were young.
I'm aware he was drafted out of Liiga, but let's not act like playing in a third-rate men's league when you're just a 6'3 200 17 year old kid is some sort of achievement.
Look at that 2019 draft and the players taken 3-10, who don't you pick ahead of him? Maybe Broberg, and that's about it.
Lafreniere, 67-15-10-25 is piss poor for even an undersized 1st overall, and Laf is 6'2 195. I bet Mitch would have spiked those numbers if he came up 2015-16.
I don't think they were expecting to get Eichel-Matthews, but they probably expected more than Bennett-Zacha or RNH-Drouin.
Your top picks, especially your 1-3 overall picks, aren't guys who you draft and let develop for 3-4 years - they're ready now, or next year. And they don't need to 'improve their game' - they play and process the game at the pro level already. Kakko and Lafreniere are still young, but I don't have a lot of hope.
...but it's okay, because Panarin is a franchise winger and wants to come here, so get him!
No center? No problem! Let's just have the middle-six center we got for a song develop into an above average #1 center in this league. You want to win you need to do better at #1C than Zibanejad, but he's still the 12th-18th best C in the game.
But is it ok? Zib and Panarin are 28 and 30, both have years left, and players come out of nowhere all the time (Zib and Panarin...).
Their D and G are set, but now I think they're too good to properly scoop up those elite forwards - 95% of the game's elite forwards came in the top five picks of the draft.
Yea McDavid is really good as you can see hereLeon draisaitl might go down a better player all time then Sid, Geno, and OV
Insane how good he's become
We also are watching the GOAT in 97 play right now
Yea McDavid is really good as you can see here
To be fair though you can kinda see the massive f***ing wall the Oilers are going to run into the second they hit the playoffs. They are being fed powerplays like damn candy right now...and their powerplay is running at a unsustainable rate, even for players like that. But they hit the playoffs and all of a sudden the PP's are gonna dry right up and well...we saw what happened last year. Can also see he has 22 pts in the sport of hockey for the year. Second to his teammate Drai and will be 1st by year end.
This is after 3 Ross/hart/Lindsay seasons in his first 6
No comparison between him and any player to ever wear a Leafs uniform

Anderson honeymoon is over got pulled out în the first after 4 goals
McDavid is the type of once in a generation player who can make up for the lack of defensive depthTo be fair though you can kinda see the massive f***ing wall the Oilers are going to run into the second they hit the playoffs. Having the 2nd best player in the NHL behind McDavid gives them an unmatchable 1-2 punch
If hyman/RNH/Puljuarvi even olay at around 50% if what they are giving now that'll be a scary offense
McDavid is in his prime and will get a soft matchup in the 1st round. He's got a legit shot at ending the GOAT and passing Gretzky. He'll be hungry to start winning in the playoffs now.
I don't see the Oilers losing before ethe WCF at earliest. Best team in the pacific with the Knights injuries and struggles this year
While probably true it is irrelevantThere are four teams in the Atlantic that could finish first in the pathetic division the Oilers play in.
You are getting high off the Oilers hype my guy. McDavid is the best player in the league no doubt and it isn't that close. You are a Leaf fan and should be pretty well aware of how the game changes in the playoffs. The Oilers have no defense and two question marks in net. The got swept by the Jets in the 1st round literally last summer. Life is going to get significantly harder for the Oilers come playoff time. That is just a fact. They also will not continue to score at 50% on the PP. If you want to sniff that glue more power to you, but the Oilers are the same flawed team, they are just beating up on a dog shit conference while riding a historic heater on the PP.McDavid is the type of once in a generation player who can make up for the lack of defensive depth

2008 and 2009 there wasn't much depth and they made back to back finals, winning 1 cupCrosby/Malkin werent able to put it together until they built depth around them

Also Hyman is a big depth add. Puljuarvi taking another step and RNH being in form, fogele is a quality bottom 6 player as well.
Oilers are deeper than there past teams and 97 and 29 look better/hungrier than they were in the past
But that D and goaltending....
That 09 Pittsburgh team lacked forward depth but had a solid deep D and good goaltending.
Don't know what their cap situation is but they could solidify their goaltending and D at the TDL if Holland thinks this is the year he should go all in. Wonder what he would pay for Soupy if he became available.

Their fan base in here sure likes to troll leafs fans so it’s hilarious how they have been hiding. Obviously we can’t post like they do but I’m quietly laughing and hoping they keep losing.Avs dont look good eh?
Imagine this team's struggles flew that under the radar...
