As much as I laughed at Mike Smith's game 1 gaffe, he has a .938% and 2.29 GAA in 7 games with Edmonton. Now to me, THAT'S playoff goaltending.

Campbell had an .897% and 3.15 GAA, yet people say he was stellar in this series. Yeahhh... I don't see it at all in comparison to an elite performance like Smith had. The difference is Vasi's save percentage was .897% as well. Just think if his usual playoff stats were there, this series wouldn't even have made it to 7 games.

Another Canadian team, Markstrom, .945% and 1.52 GAA.

Campbell was weak compared to basically every other goaltender. Toronto's strong offense made up for his pretty average goaltending.

He was good in game 5 though.

Seeing the Flames and Oilers both close out game 7 at home doesn't make our loss feel any better

Gutless team, absolutely gutless coach, core, management, GM, the entire organization top to bottom

Look at the angle Gaudreau shot the puck from and scored. Almost at the goal line. Shoot from anywhere approach

Meanwhile our 'stars' try to pass themselves into a perfect goal, f***ing pathetic gutless core

When Freddie was putting up really strong numbers against BOS2 and CBJ people still blamed him for the series loss and of course now that the Leafs offence finally had a series were they didn't vastly underperformed the goaltending performance declined significantly.

Dubas made the huge mistake of gambling on Mrazek and when we are all seeing by midseason that goaltending is a huge weakness of the team, he chose to ignore the problem and hope a struggling Campbell can come back to his 20/21 form.

Gaudreau was able to carry his team to 1st place in the Pacific and lift them pass the Stars in the 1st round while never missing a single game, this guy should have been nominated for a Hart, even Flames fan will tell you that Tkatchuk and Lindholm's production were heavily dependent on Johnny.

In total there were 5 game 7s right?

  • Oilers Vs Kings (Oilers win at home)
  • Canes Vs Bruins (Canes win at home)
  • Rangers Vs Pens (Rangers win at home)
  • Leafs Vs Bolts (Leafs BLOW at home)
  • Flames Vs Stars (still on going)

You can't make this stuff up. It is agonizing, frustrating and enraging

So when they lost on the road it was better?

It’s pretty clear you are looking for things to get mad at.

We would lose our minds if our Stars took those shots and they didn't go in. "they don't go to the net, only perimeter shots !!! "

Those shots don't go in for us.

Just accept the curse and enjoy your summer brother.

This is the worst timeline with the Leafs out and both Flames and Oilers in the 2nd round

Just gotta hope the winner of COL/STL makes the finals.
It's like we had a small pack of losers - Leafs, Florida and the Oilers - and we could, at least, look to the other losers for some solace. This year, the other two losers finally graduated from loserdome and we're stuck here. It's a horrible feeling. Like the nerds finally got dates and we're stuck here, dateless again, at the High School dance.

Hard not to look at the past 3 seasons and see missed opportunities galore. Now we are looking at:

> Montreal with new management feels very dangerous. I think they could catch up to us within a couple years.
> Ottawa just keeps drafting can't miss players outside of Boucher.
> Edmonton looks very dangerous, and McDavid is playing at another level this year. He could willpower that team to a Cup if he gets a little support.
> Tampa won't take much of a step back.
> Vancouver is a team that should be able to find success is a weak division. Lots of good assets to build around and I like the new management group.

The only real "rival" that I think could be in some trouble is Boston, and even they will have some assets and some cap space to play around with.

Each year of failure is just a huge missed opportunity for this group, and the fun part of having our rivals be bad recently is not going to last much longer.

Oh don't worry they're still losers. Both Edmonton and Calgary needed 7 games to eliminate the two weakest teams in the playoffs this season with LA not even having their 1D and Dallas coming within one goal of taking Calgary out. Whoever wins this series gets the honour of being swept by Colorado or beat in 5 to St.Louis.

Yes, this is 100% true. It was always "why can't McDavid and Matthews break out in the playoffs?". We can scream all we want about Kings vs Tampa, but it doesn't excuse the last two years...and McDavid looks like a God damn legend out there! Huge hits, amazing skill plays, defensively sound.

We really are the last kid to be picked at recess now.

Honestly I hate pretty much all other Canadian teams except the Flames, true Tkatchuk is a POS but as far as fanbases go, I dont think their is much animosity between them and Leafs, at least compare to the other Canadian teams. I'm hoping the Flames sweep the Oilers and Johnny outplays both McDavid and Drai in the series, would be nice too see Oilers fans get back down to earth.

Buffalo is still here, Buffalo is like that nerd that even other nerds are to embarrass to be around with.

I wouldn't mind seeing Edmonton go through, and possibly even make it to the SCF. Would be something to watch a legendary McDavid carry job, the guy has gone God mode out there.

Nice to see Calgary close things out last night. They're probably the only other team I kind root for besides our failures. I find their fans the most tolerable on here as well.

Tbh I'm actually happy for McDavid and Hyman as well. Even if I find HFOil's weird obsession with the Leafs annoying, their team has been in a battle of mediocrity and embrassment with the Leafs for awhile now. Nice to see a team break free from that.

As for our Leafs, @2 Slick is correct, Campbell was one of the worst goalies in the first round. For the flack Smith takes league wide he's done a good job for Edmonton so far and Msrkstrom is one of the best.

Anything outside of a rebuild (re-tool, run it back, etc.) should result in Campbell walking and Mrazek being fired into the sun. Stop taking half measures with this core if you're going to keep it and give up what's needed to improve the goaltending. The more I think about it the more I think the goalie situation should be the final nail in Dubas' managerial coffin.
