Clearly he wasn’t in control of his of his stick and the smart player took advantage.

Well define control? Is having 2 hands on your stick and having a much larger man lift it up not control?

He is 6 6 240’lbs.
Kerfoot is 5 10 like 180

I’m 6 7 250 and not a professional athlete I could absolutely overpower a much smaller person and grab the stick and smack myself in the face with it…..

Do they not have control? If a player pulls a stick out of your hands or a goalies glove off. Do they not have control?

Like I said what is stopping a player from grabbing your stick and slashing themselves.

Do you each get 2? It’s dumb the entire game a big goon could just take 2 min penalties for holding the stick and using it to commit infractions that the other person is responsible for

You should be on the side of your eyes and brain instead.
You can’t blame the ref for an errant stick, especially when they don’t have the benefit a slow motion replay.

What was the Leafs player doing flicking his stick up there after he lost the puck battle anyway?

Clearly it's cheating for a penalty.

Call it what it is.
Cheating? Wow. That’s weak.

We are talking about the Foote play where the Leafs player just decided to flick his stick. Not sure if he was trying to avoid a hit or what he was doing.

Oh sorry.
The foot play was a fake high stick. I can’t say it wasn’t a natural reaction. I can see how the ref got fooled. But it clearly was the wrong call (although understandable)

The hedman/Kerfoot play was what I was talking about. It was weird in that he literally lifted the stick into his own face. That is a dangerous precedent because all it takes is a stronger person to take controll of your stick/glove etc. and commit an infraction.

Either way there was suspect reffing. I don’t see how in the world the leafs got 33 penalties or whatever but that happens in all series.

Colorado got screwed in sanjose. So did Vegas. The gloved pass. All kinds of things happen

The series was close. Even if the penalties weren’t called we have no idea what would have happened

Sure I can blame the refs for making one horrendous call and then another borderline call (after they knew the first call was horrendous) to give the trailing team a 2 minute 2 man advantage in the last 10 minutes of a 1 goal elimination game.

What made me absolutely shake my head is that the EXACT same situation occurred in Game 7, only reversed, and the refs used the "We don't want to decide the game" excuse as to why they wouldn't give the Leafs a 5-on-3 in Game 7...

Yep, pretty weak.

Kerfoot had no business putting himself into that position. Pretty dumb on his part.

yep.

and of course, TB's interference on their game 7 game winning goal was much worse than TOR's interference on their disallowed goal.

Well...McDavid's fantastic playoff run will likely come to a merciful end tonight.

I'm not sure I like how Colorado matches up against Tampa or NYR.

I’m not sure if it would get annoying after a while but the Colorado announcer is the best

I could live with an argument that both hits were equal, but to suggest Hagel’s hit was MUCH worse than Kane’s is just bizarre. The Kane hit on Kadri was worse than that. Both were bad, and while they both hit the boards similarly hard, there was a lot more force in the Kane cross-check.

Hagel’s was a reckless play that happens far too often in the league. It usually doesn’t result in the guy going down, but that’s why it’s so dangerous. I honestly cringe every time I see a defensemen make that cross-check.

Kane drives Kadri into the boards. Hagel causes Luastarinen to loses his balance and fall into the boards. Both dangerous. At best they are equal and Kane gets a 1 game reputation suspension… but really, his was just worse.
Luo is more vulnerable IMO given he's stumbling

Just atrocious calls this playoffs overall though. Inconsistent and illogical in way too many circumstances

Hedman lifted his stick, but he didn’t force it into his own neck. Just because Kerfoot didn’t have complete control over his stick doesn’t mean he had no control over his stick.

I’m kind of scare to ask, but what interference did they miss on Tampa’s goal?
Killorn taking Muzzins stick out of his hands. It was blatant in game and then the panel finally referenced and showed it a week or so ago on the broadcast

"Those smart little plays" veteran teams make. Like holding the stick or a subtle pick to get in the lane. Wait, that last one only counts some of the time

Killorn taking Muzzins stick out of his hands

Looked more like a weird mess of two bad skaters after Killorn makes an awkward check on Muzzin. As they both scramble to recover, it appears Muzzin’s stick got caught in Killorn’s feet, and tripped him up a bit, which caused him to fall on top of Muzzin’s stick.

Certainly less clear cut that Holl, and certainly less impactful on the play.

Comparable plays would be Palat coming across the ice and running a pick on Brodie while he’s trying to check Paul.

Don't be scared.

...he puts it under his arm and holds on.

Not at all. Keefe is going to be regarded as one of the best coaches in the league in 10-15 years time.
Bc by then he would earn respect from opposing coaches for 10-15yrs while these coaches will be playing in the 2nd round, lol.

Trotz and Cassidy, Dubas needs to at least consider one of them.
