It will be interesting to see now that the rangers are going to waltz to the cup.

They got dummied by the pens to the point that domingue had to hit the puck into his own net

They played back up Raanta and then the game 7 goalie. Still completely outplayed for most of the series.

They are taking it to Tampa. With point gone and coop sayihn they are more banged up after florida then they have ever been.

Now their final options are

1.) Colorado- without girard. Kadri and kuemper
2.) Edmonton- with a peg leg drai and Mike smith.

It’s all about the run. Timing health and bounces.

The rangers winning the cup after having no business getting out of round one is a perfect example

Losing by one goal to the 2 time cup champs means that a team is a fraud?

Good to know. Every team that doesn't win a cup should be a fraud by this scientifically based metric. :sarcasm:

Well we could add the following criteria:

No playoff wins after 5 GM's.
and
No playoff wins In the Cap era.

But then I'd have to remove Edmonton, Florida, Calgary and Carolina.

So your alternate theory is that history has a direct influence on the outcome?

No all we have to do is look at results.

There is no evidence to suggest this iteration Leafs can win anything, not even a single playoffs round when they get that opportunity. Not even with home ice.

Funny, my wife is watching the Queens celebration right now and

Okay, I remember when that could be attached to the Leafs.

Not now.

So you are saying their PRIOR results (which have no bearing on anything) means they are a fraud today? By losing to the 2 time cup champions by one goal in Game 7 this season?

History is meaningless. Not sure why last year's (and prior) results mean anything. It's not the same players, nor the same coaches, and not the same opponents, nor do those opponents have all the same players.

I said it in another thread, but this Colorado/Edmonton series has simply highlighted what a fraud the Pacific Division was as a whole this year.

Any of the 4 Atlantic Division playoff teams waltz through the Pacific to the Conference Finals.

That might be true, and perhaps Montreal kind of proved that last year, but you don't get to chose your opponents. Last year Leafs might have chosen Montreal if they had that opportunity and ...

To me the only surprise in the West is how gawd awful the Flames goaltender was. A Vezina candidate being run by Coach of the Year, and a complete collapse.

I reached out to rival front-office executives from around the NHL, who were granted anonymity, and asked them a couple of simple questions:

Which of Canada’s three playoff teams do they think has the best chance to end Canada’s 29-year Cup drought?
What do they see as the strengths and concerns from all three teams?
Here are their answers (obviously I didn’t reach out to anyone in the Edmonton, Toronto or Calgary front offices). Team execs No. 1-5 were reached via text message Sunday. Team exec No. 6 was reached via phone Sunday and team execs No. 7-8 were reached via text Monday.

Team exec No. 1
Calgary
Team exec No. 2
Calgary
Team exec No. 3
Calgary
Team exec No. 4
Calgary
Team exec No. 5
Calgary
Team exec No. 6
Calgary
Team exec No. 7
Calgary
Team exec No. 8
Calgary

They have to prove it, just changing a player doesn't mean they are for real.

I thought they had a chance this year, but when the going got real they didn't have it.

115 regular season points don't carry over to when they're only playing legitimate teams.

Frauds (in no particular order):

Florida
Toronto
Calgary
Edmonton - teetering
Carolina

Tampa has 2 Cups, eventually teams lose, not sure eventually teams win.
Calgary is the only surprise in this list. The reasons each team lost were not just going to vanish in later rounds.

Seeing a lot of speculation that the Oilers will gun for Jack once they lose this series. If Edmonton does sign Campbell guaranteed he’ll win a round with them. Seems like every f***ing player we’ve shipped out in this Matthews/Shanahan era has gone on a playoff run at least once. Watch the Canucks win a round next year too with Dermott on the team now.

Great thing about this phoney Oilers run that's about to end is that it probably extended Holland's tenure by at least 3 more years.

His offseason is going to be insane. I can't wait.

They're going to spend an absurd amount of money on an undeserving goalie. Just need to sit back and see who it is
