That's a pretty disgusting action by Marchand, and the exact type of thing that the DOPS should most be working to eliminate. Make an example of him.

Bunting position in the top 6 is safe. Playing with JT-Nylander is nothing to fuss about.
maybe, but why would you break up the line that has been absolutely carrying us since they were put back together? its really the only scoring line that is performing.

its already a nightmare for teams, i dont understand the point.

we can have the boat, or we can take the mystery box...
the boat is a boat, but the mystery box could be anything...even a boat!

Zero reason to remove him from M & M.
Not a chance the team does that.

Problem with the rest of the line-up is, who do they replace Kerfoot with to get them going? Kase? Mikheyev? I don't even know.

There's a lot of the same options throughout the line-up.

In this fake world I created , Crouse-Matthews-Marner are lighting it up. Don't forget that. We can live with Bunting on the 2nd line.

I watched the game. Based on this one game Crouse was really good. Saw his latest road stats, similar to matthews and marner road success so made a line for fun. Nothing more than that.

Think they'll need to bring someone in if things don't turn around.

All good. Bunting has been a revelation, no doubt he would help Tavares out.
IMO, Nylander needs to get going again. When he goes, the line goes.

Any chance Boston unloads Marchand? As much as I hate him due to him being a Bruin having him on the team would be the equivalent of handing the cup to Toronto this year.

In the long-run, that line will be fine. Lately they haven't elevated their game enough to make a significant difference. We know that when Nylander is on his game, for stretches at a time, he is very good. This isn't unusual for him. I'd say it's part of the 82 game regular season.

But to make a difference in the playoffs, they can't be playing like this.

Just like I said above, the Crouse I saw in the one game sample is at worst equal to Bunting.

So you can view it as

Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Bunting-Tavares-Nylander

If that makes you feel better.

Assume Crouse came as advertised. I'm focusing on positive outcomes only

lines need chemistry though, talent doesnt mean players will automatically play well together.
just plugging somebody who is percieved to be a "superior" player on a line and expecting it to work is unrealistic.

i like the player and believe hes going to be very good, i just dont see the need to put him on a line that is already fantastic

Yes but if Crouse deserved to be there after acquiring him , we should put him there. You need to start filling in the blanks yourself for what him working there would mean for the team. If Bunting is moved to line 2 because someone worked on line 1, we become even better.

Crouse is among many names rumored to be available. I took one for the team watching a Coyotes game and gave my one game analysis. He checks out for now.

*Bunting and Nylander have always looked amazing together. Don't forget that

line 2 needs help more than the matthews line, why risk making line one worse when its the 1 line that definitely doesnt need it currently? lol
i get it if bunting gets injured etc or the line stops producing, but at the moment that line is a top 3 line in hockey.

Not sure if you're purposely missing the part where Bunting was bumped down by merit lol. Why would you be upset in a world Crouse-Matthews-Marner kept chugging along and line 2 got even stronger because we can give them Bunting? This is awesome.

merit? lawson crouse has 22 points in 45 career NHL games.
bunting has 45 in 69 games(and 29 points in 43 games with the leafs this year)

how does lawson crouse "merit" being put on the 1st line of the leafs over a player who is producing there already and who has produced better than him this year in general?

Coyotes play again tonight. We expect you glued to the TV with your notepad and pen

Out of curiosity I wanted to see if the advanced stats align with what you saw. Crouse did pass with flying colors. Impressive he did it in a 5-1 loss too.

I'm a huge Crouse fan but even I know 1 game samples are worthless, so we expect you here with game 2 data tomorrow morning :sarcasm:

This is the line from me that started this:

Interesting stat he has 5 goals in his last 8 road games. That would make Crouse-Matthews-Marner a road scoring machine

I made up this line for fun based on Vancouver announcers showing Crouse has 9 points in his last 8 road games. So by merit I mean the line actually did work in a world it became a thing, so we were free to slide Bunting to 2nd line, making the team deeper overall. We didn't demote Bunting.

That should end the convo there. I can't see why anyone would be against having a deeper team. you can't become deeper unless there's guys who can move each other down.

I shouldn't say "down". The correct word for deep team is "around"

cool, michael bunting has 19 points(10 goals) in 21 road games including four goals in his last 4 games on the road.
im not against having crouse on our team at all, but he is in no way more deserving than bunting of being on that top line.
we can agree on one thing though, lets just end this conversation. its clearly not going anywhere lol.

Edit: I’d definitely like Crouse if the ask isn’t obscene. He is another top six option, or he could play a third line role with Kerfoot and Spezza, sign me up.

Marchand in person hearing (over Zoom!).

Good guy that Brad Marchand, the B’s are clearly in fourth but truly only 4 games behind Florida and the Leafs and 3 back of Tampa.

All it takes is one of the three teams ahead of them to go 3-5-2 while they play at pace and they’re right back in it.

But no, he’s arguably the team’s MVP since 2015 and he just has to go pull some shit. Ovi would have put him on his ass if he tried to stop him from getting a fresh stick.

He was suspended for slewfooting barely three months ago.

You know the league didn’t like his comments on the Olympics.

Over/Under 7 games. I’m taking the over and he gets hit with the ten like Sittler. Next time it’s 20.

Five for the punch, two for the slash, three for ‘Keep your mouth shut, I won’t tell you again.’

Maybe the post where I have two Buntings in the top 6 will make it more clear. There's some serious miscommunication going on here.

had u said an hes an upgrade to our top 6 and we would have a bunting like player on both lines i would have not even responded unless to agree. the only thing im arguing against was taking our own bunting that works on that line and putting a different "bunting" on there expecting the results to be better. anyways, all in good fun. cheers.
