Sportsnet: Q. Byfield Available?

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
But Byfield could be Kopi-Star 2.0 or himself a unique facimilie of himself QB Super-Star

He's still not worth Konecny, Sanheim, Michkov, Luchanko, and two firsts. No one player is worth a two-time All-star, top pair defenseman, a Calder candidate, a team's first round pick from the year just past, and their next two firsts. Would you trade that for any one player?

Heard earlier in the season from a flyers FO source that LA was dangling Byfield to flyers and was looking at farabee or foerster. Also that flyers were also looking at Turcotte.

That was before Farabee had a terrible season, though.
Rumours...BS Rumours who the heck is Farabee and Foester is good sometimes and disappears others...Flyers have too many RWingers playing outta position and they traded Farabee cause they thought maybe he's not going to catch on to the Torts "whip"!!!

Maybe after the dumb dumb salary dumps by Briere he's going after Rantanen in the off-season

Just pulling you're chain

Would anyone be shocked at the Kings moving a promising young player in a move that everyone but the Kings know is dumb?

Guessing Kyper and all the other "Toronto Media" have never watched a Western Conference game, if it wasn't on Hockey Night in Canada. Byfield is only available if someone MUCH better was coming back the other way at the same position. And LA doesn't seem like the type to give up a ton of assets to do that, when they can stand pat and reap the reward of being patient.

ETA: But then again....it IS Rob Blake. :help:

Kopitar is older than Methuselah and Danault can’t score. It’s definitely time to trade the young C
mfw Kopitar is half a year younger than me

Probably going to piss off 3 fans bases with one post but let's get wild.

To LA:

Q. Hughes

To Vancouver:

Byfield
Clarke
1st

Then:

To Buffalo:

EP40

To Vancouver:

Cozens
Byram

LA goes all in with the soon-to-be back to back Norris winner and top 2 Dman in the world in his prime.

Buffalo makes a big move and gets a sick 1-2 center punch with Pettersson and Thompson.

Vancouver sees the writing on the wall that the team is in disarray and Hughes might be tempted to leave a mad house Canadian market and go south of the border in 2 years as many Americans in Canada tend to do.

Rebuilding around a core of Byfield, Clarke, Cozens, Byram, Willander, Lekkerimaki with some 1st round picks in the chamber sounds pretty good to me.

Byfield has outproduced Kopitar 2 to 1 since Christmas, yet somebody thinks they will move him to get better now?

I will throw an offer for the Kings and Kings fans you are allowed to Laugh at me.

Karlsson at whatever retention required to make it work.
Rickard Rakell
Rutger McGroarty

For Byfield and a defensemen that is needed to make numbers work.

Kings were burned with PLD trade.

I hope they learned some lessons.

For sure and Faber as well. The Kings haven't ever shown a reluctance to move promising young players if they felt it made them better is all I am saying so I don't buy he isn't available.

Please tell me this is not true :(

He's 37

He would be 39 heading in to the next season. he hasn't confirmed it, but he has hinted pretty heavily
"Haven’t thought about it that far along but, yeah, 39 (years old), I think it’ll be a pretty good age to maybe think about the end," said Kopitar.

Clickbait

Byfield is one of the least available players in the league. Kopitar has said he is retiring after next season and Q is finally breaking out.
I have heard the retirement talks from media people but have not heard Kopi say it. Wouldn’t be surprising just saying I have not heard it from him directly. 🤷🏼‍♂️
