I'm really a fan of his. I was ok for us to draft him if that would had been the case, but I really started to appreciate him more since the Olympics.

Comparison to Z is just something that is there because it's offseason and people don't have much hockey to talk about. They are a bit different styles and while I agree Z should have a better career, Johnson should have a great one as well. The jackets should be very happy with him, he is smart and skilled to push the pace offensively.

Bemoaning the fact that she was calling the game in a gameday thread is really all I ever saw on here. Not exactly what I would call borderline obsessive.

People on here have their preference in how they like to hear a game called. I'm not sure why that's such a big deal.

Literally every game she called there were incessant posts bitching about her. It was weird then and it's weird now.

She sucks at her job, male, female, blue, white, green. It's the internet people literally troll and be psychopaths all day on it, nothing new here. She should have actually got experience before given a role she obviously is not suited and ready for. Her voice also isn't easy on the ears on top of all the other concerns.

It's weird to voice the same exact opinion over and over and over and over as if people haven't heard it already a million times. It's weird to continue to complain about a problem that is so easily solved. Yes, that is weird.

Or maybe you enjoyed reading about sam steel this season. I'd bet not.

Was it true though? It's a hockey forum, we are going to discuss what's going on. If she's on a game and ruining it as usual people are going to discuss it in a game thread. Is there a single person you have ever seen or spoke to that thinks she is suitable for her position?

I was perfectly fine with her, she didn't bother me at all.

I guess it just doesn't bother me like it bothers you. Probably because you don't agree with the criticism. If it's a problem that is so easily solved, I don't think people would be voicing the opinion as often as they did.

You'd lose that bet. I actually got a good chuckle from it quite a few times.
 
See something like this is obviously psycho, over the top, and even should be investigated IMO.

No one here is doing anything like that we are just commenting on her perofamcne which is not very good at all.

This particularly stood out to me:

The Lightning’s Pat Maroon was bellowing at the Leafs’ Wayne Simmonds, alleging both he and his Toronto teammates were soft. Sensing a story, Hextall requested to speak with Simmonds during her intermission segment. She smirked as she asked him about the exchange: “He called you ‘soft’ — my question is: Are you?”

“You should ask him,” Simmonds said. “We’ve never dropped the gloves. He’s never obliged me before. So I don’t know. I don’t think I’m the one that’s soft.”

That final snippet of the interview went viral online. An unverified Twitter account bearing the name of former NHL referee Tim Peel was harshly critical of Hextall: “Asking Wayne Simmons’s [sic] if he is soft might be one of the most ridiculous questions I have ever heard. Do your homework.”

“I’m just going to say it,” said Hextall. “If I was a man, I don’t think that’s what he would have done.”

Yea cause she’s terrible at her job, I don’t care if she’s a woman or not I say the same thing about male commentators who are trash. Lol give me a break, and don’t say just mute her because as someone paying for a service, I have a right to comment if the standard is really bad. She is a national broadcaster who is not even close to qualified, if you’re naive enough to not think she’s going to get some internet hate in todays age, then that’s ridiculous. Sorry if you don’t like it, but I’m calling it like it is

What she’s endured is over the top. But all I saw on this forum were posters calling her out for being bad at what she does which they would for anyone (how much crap does Ahlers get for being terrible at identifying players??).

To be honest I wasn’t a fan either and probably said that on here at some point. She was completely unqualified to do what she was doing.

there are some really good female broadcasters and hosts in pro sports. as a Yankees fan, their radio colour lady is great (Susan W, i think). There are also some good golf and tennis commentators like Pam Shriver, Chris E and Martina. Leah is just not nearly as good as any of them. I haven't read what was recently put out, but if people went beyond just describing her job performance, that's dumb. but it's completely fair to criticize her announcing skills IMO because she is not good

Listening to this again, there is so much delusion. Says she didn't get the job because of her last name but seconds later goes on to describe who's in her family and how much they are into hockey... Says she didn't get the first full time announcing job as a woman because of her sex but has no experience of qualifications at all then the whole "I bring something unique" yeah you do, terrible announcing it's really unique.

There are definitely two extremes (psychos threatening her vs people acting like no one takes criticism and it's only because she's a female)
