I have to say the Canadians have some gusto and confidence once they get to OT. If Price would have come up stellar again in this series, it could be a completely different story. But he's looked pretty average most games and the team just doesn't have enough when he's average.

Yeah if he played even average in game 2 this series is tied right now.

I doubt it goes to Game 6. Tampa is just too good.

As a whole or Oilers related?

As a whole, I think there'll be lots of movement because of the expansion draft. I think Holland will have a surprise or two up his sleeve if not at the draft, then free agency.
Oilers related mostly. I know we're expecting great things but we always expect great things.

You’d hear about it everywhere. TV, radio, news, internet. People you never even knew were Habs fans will text you out of nowhere. People you haven’t talked to in years will call you to gloat.

Trust me, it’s not worth it.

Plus I want Canadian bragging rights.
You must have a good memory of this happening, because the last time would have been 1993.

If the Habs even managed to win game 2, in which they completely outplayed Tampa, the series would be tied.

The player changes the Habs made were pretty good. Getting Evans back was helpful. Romanov and Kulak were good additions.

In the series the Habs really lacking strong point shots with a chance. Romanov gives them that, and really the Lightning have been generating a lot from the point.

Nice as well for Weber to swat Point a few times. Habs should have been doing that from game 1. The Habs really didn't bring anything too effective in 3 of the games in this series. Hopefully they will now.

Amazing that 6'3" 200 lb Jan Rutta couldn't contain an off-balance Josh Anderson; as much as he's overpaid in terms of regular season production, he looks absolutely tank like and has been able to create plays by outmuscling guys like Hedman several times throughout the series.

Anderson has been one of the better Habs in regular season and playoffs. Scored 17G in 52gp. Thats a 27G pace on a full season. Anderson was one of the players I wanted here, and the toolset we need. Would look great in our topsix instead of midgets and weak ass Nugent Hopkins.

How are people seriously cheering for a reverse sweep? Get to the offseason already.

For sure I am. Would be fine with Habs winning. Might shake up some of the shite operations of the other Canadian clubs and put some pressure on.

This is the season where are GM actually stated "nows not the time, I'm not getting anything to help our club"

This is the type of org we have. Not adding f*** all. Paying for Nuge until 2030, letting Barrie walk, signing guys like Turris and AA for "help".

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but the Habs could complete the reverse sweep (they won’t) and they’re still not a model to follow. They got hot at the right time, were getting away with everything with regards to infractions (until now) and Price was a wall until this series. There is a very good chance they won’t make the playoffs next year. Replicating bottled lightning is not a good idea, unless we want another 05-06 Oilers (at best)

There is no ideal if you're the Oilers and the McDrai clock is already half done. Bottled lightning and a one run is getting to be about the best we can hope for. I mean I'd far prefer that then nothing igniting the whole time. We're completely wasting this duo. Guys like Jeff Carter, Tyler Toffoli, Josh Anderson, Mike Hoffman were all imminently available and we missed out on all.

The last thing our GM should ever be saying is now is not the time. Seems like it never is.

Since the offseason hasn’t really started yet, I think I’m okay with not thinking that the bolded is the case. Last season wasn’t the season

I don't have belief any season is under Holland. Any GM saying such things as "now is not the time" within a Mcdrai time clock deserves to be fired.

Montreal got rid of capspace and deadwood so they could gear up for a signing binge and run. There was never a better season to do that then this one. Habs realized Canadian division season and bracket was the best chance ever of going hunting.

I agree with the overall sentiment but I also think that without significant upgrades to the roster in all areas we probably would've capped out at the second round. We played awful in that series. McDavid and Draisatl went to sleep until it was already 2-0 Jets.

Their GM told them now is not the time. I mean if the GM doesn't believe in a run why should the players? What help did he bring. Obtained one D that ended up being scratched in the series he was so inept.

I mean with this roster our only chance was getting to 2nd round. We didn't even win a game.

Funny that in the same thread covering the Habs winning 3 series and getting to a SC final people are mocking them for winning a game in the Final. While we didn't get one win all postseason and only one in last 2 seasons.

Salute to an org that actually knows what its doing and that is paying attention. gEtting rid of useless muppets like Max Domi and replacing with power forwards like Josh Anderson. Montreal understood that the NHL is going back to a strongman game. We respond by signing up RNH longterm. lol

I really don't have a problem with signing RNH long term because you're expecting an org that couldn't find money in a bank to find good players from outside the organization.

Anderson was also asleep for most of the playoffs until yesterday.

With that said, Holland needs to have the offseason of his life and I expect to see more of the same mid-tier moves that don't move the needle.

Anderson has been pretty solid. Was strong in Leafs series, good in Vegas series and has been one of the better Habs in the final. The telecast is hyper critical about him losing some puck battles without mentioning that he's involved in all those batttles and is on a lot of pucks. I don't look at that as a bad thing. Mostly he's been balls out and getting on a lot of plays. Habs havn't utilized Anderson ideally and are not featuring him as much as they could. But he's certainly bringing it in his minutes.

Anderson is a big moment player. Everyone of the 5 goals he's scored this postseason have been huge.

As great as Montreal's playoff run is I don't know how much we can glean from it. There's no Carey Price anywhere in our system.

Aside from bringing in another top 6 winger, rejig the bottom 6, 2LD and another goalie the biggest playoff acquisition Holland has to make is get a coach that can coach in the playoffs. Habs likely would have been out earlier with Julien who is a good coach but afraid to play talented youth. Our coach has that flaw (aside from overplaying ‘defensive’ young players) and not knowing how to adjust to the flow of the game which is critical in playoff hockey.

Maybe Holland should be fired for hitching his wagon to that lame horse than anything else, really

Edit: ‘dead’ was maybe too harsh, changed to lame
