I don’t think you realize how insufferable Montreal fans would be if they won. And there’s lots of them.

I’ll grudgingly accept a cheater winning back to back Cups because their fanbase is nowhere near as annoying or ubiquitous.

They're insufferable already.

In fact every fanbase is insufferable. And many are towards us after we got swept.

You’d hear about it everywhere. TV, radio, news, internet. People you never even knew were Habs fans will text you out of nowhere. People you haven’t talked to in years will call you to gloat.

Trust me, it’s not worth it.

Not to mention all the annoying “first Canadian team to win since 93, only Canadian team to win since 90” headlines and the “what did Montreal get right that other Canadian teams didn’t” analyses that would pop up everywhere.

It’d be an incredibly irritating number of years to be a hockey and Oilers fan. I repeat, it is not worth denying Tampa another Cup for that. Yes, Tampa are cheaters, but their fans aren’t everywhere and the coverage would end after the summer and you wouldn’t have to hear about it for a decade after.

I’m glad this Cup wasn’t decided with Weber in the penalty box. He’s such a warrior and would have been a shitty way to end in all likelihood his last run at a Cup.

Montreal gets a home win and Tampa likely a hometown Cup celly. Decent capper to a pretty meh final.

They would have to emphasize that they came back from 3-1 to best the leafs. That cannot be lost.

Toronto fans are probably mostly relieved now. But a reverse sweep, that could be bothersome.

As a whole or Oilers related?

As a whole, I think there'll be lots of movement because of the expansion draft. I think Holland will have a surprise or two up his sleeve if not at the draft, then free agency.
