Coyotes’ goalie pipeline is actually stacked. Keumper and Raanta’s only kryptonite is their injury history.

Adin Hill and Ivan Prosvetov behind them in the minors are both legit (especially Prosvetov). If I’m them I try to get a king’s ransom for Keumper and then move to one of the kids.

Tough spot for them with the Expansion Draft coming up. Hill would require protection so that may be a small factor in making Kuemper available. The other issue is how many playoff bound teams need help in net?

Carolina: Petr Mrazek coming back soon, but seemed like they've been looking for an upgrade. Not sure if they think Alex Nedeljkovic (.930 sv%, but small sample size) is worth protecting from Seattle.
Toronto: They'd have trade Andersen to make the cap work and he has a partial NTC.
Edmonton: Smith doing okay, they'd have to deal Koskinen to make the cap work and that's not an easy contract to move with partial NTC.
Pittsburgh: Limited assets.
Washington: Limited cap space.
Colorado: Maybe the best match, but don't have their 2nds for 2021 or 2022. Not sure if Sakic is the type to give up a first rounder for a short term add.

wasn't hill waiver fodder this year?

They should protect Keumper as Raanta is a UFA. I don't imagine their other guy requires protection. Seem like a no brainer for them come expansion.

Maybe see if anyone will take an always injured Raanta.

Yeah on the CapFriendly simulator I had them protecting Kuemper and then losing Hill to Seattle (if only because they didn't have anybody else worth taking). I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to deal Kuemper, but the goalie market will be tough unless there's an injury. New GM seems to want to recoup some picks that were lost before he came on board which makes sense. Expansion draft also throws a monkey wrench into trading guys who don't have expiring deals. Could see Raanta fetching a mid-round pick if a playoff team needs an upgrade at backup. I forget if the projected playoff schedule is going to be as accelerated as last year's.

Peel had to go, that's way too close to catching a ref fixing a game. We all know make up calls are a thing, but Peel said the quiet part out loud, and he had to be made an example of

The expansion draft requirement is to expose a goalie signed for 2021-22 or qualified RFAs. Raanta doesn't fit that. I think as of right now it would have to be Hill exposed.

plus I bet he is still getting paid as the NHL release was not that he was fired or relieved of his duties, but that he was not officiating future games.
I mean, they would have had a fight on their hands with the ref union probably if they didn't just let him quietly retire a few weeks earlier than planned.

Yeah, just an embarassing way for him to go out more than anything. Not that he had much of a reputation to begin with, st least among fans. Wonder how the players felt about him.

I was listening to WGR550 yesterday and the subject came up. They said L.A. was their ideal trade partner, not NYR. Talked about wanting Byfield + Turcotte.

Too rich for my blood.
They can want anyone, but I don’t think Blake will pay that much for Eichel.

Rumblings are that Eichel injured his cervical vertebrae. That's not an area of the body that I want to hear about being injured.

I do not want to consider a trade until I see how he recovers from that. That means seeing him in games. Since he is out for probably the season, seeing him in games means waiting until the 2021-22 season. Eichel's NMC doesn't kick in until after the season so the sabres still have more leeway until then.

Waiting also buys time to see what we have in the prospects and what holes we need to fill.
