Can't go down if you're already down.

Parise is a healthy scratch tonight.
that contract looks terrible. I doubt he plays till the end of it and i wonder what the Wild would pay to unload it. They have two first rounders.
There seemed to be mutual interest between Parise and the Islanders, but it would've required Minnesota taking back Andrew Ladd (5.5 AAV) plus retaining on Parise's deal (7.54 AAV). Getting the cap hits to balance was the road block, but maybe it's something they can revisit. Their remaining salaries:
2020-21: Parise (8) vs. Ladd (1 mil in salary, 3 mil signing bonus already paid?)
2021-22: Parise (6) vs. Ladd (4)
2022-23: Parise (2) vs. Ladd (4)
2023-24: Parise (1)
2024-25: Parise (1)
And it's amusing seeing Bill Guerin potentially having to negotiate against his former GM. Back in the day, Guerin requested a trade from the Devils because of a contract dispute. Lou shipped him to Edmonton.
wonder if he's learned his lesson after landeskog little brothered himGarland playing for Arizona tonight..dang

Minny is supposed to be going into a rebuild...
So they are at a crossroads because Kapizov has been to good. Push forward and stay mediocre for years? Or pull the rip cord and tank this season and next? If it’s B then keeping parise is no issue.
With all due respect, Sabres cannot come close to the repeated Penguins tank jobs. The Sabres did pull off the most tank job in all of sports, so I think of it as karma
The rangers make the most sense. Much more than usNHL trade deadline 2021: Will the Canes re-sign Dougie Hamilton? Trade options for Blackhawks, Kings
Jack Eichel trade talk, real or perceived, will only grow
Just like in the fall, the Rangers have become the hot topic. New York’s reported inquiries ignited the first firestorm. The Big Apple loves its Broadway stars, and Eichel would fit the bill. Not only that, the Rangers have the cap space and assets to create a blockbuster with a strong prospect pool. The Kings similarly have young assets, cap space and a need for a new face to stay relevant in a city full of stars. -John Vogl (Feb. 18)
