I have had Forsberg marked as a target for awhile. Would be a nice fit here

Seattle won't catch as many teams flat-footed as Vegas did. The GM's were anticipating more protection than they got, this time they have had fair warning.
Pretty much agree with your message overall, but I'm not so sure about this one. There are people predicting a flat cap for up to 5 years. That would kill a lot of the teams, and probably result in a lot more exposures of good players that are either somewhat overpaid or have somewhat outgrown their welcomes (say, Nazem Kadri), which you'd have to think would be worth a gamble to an expansion team.

They won't get nothing, but Bettman changed the rules for Vegas pretty late in the process which is why there was the mad scramble to make protection trades which came back to haunt some teams. Yes, the cap is flat, but you protect the players that you need and make the numbers work somehow. I don't think Seattle will become a cup contender overnight, that's my guess, but we'll see how the expansion draft goes. I don't see a repeat of Vegas' first year run, that's for sure. The entry draft is quite weak this year, so their #2 isn't going to mean much there either unless they think there's a 2C there or take a real gamble on a goalie. They will need a 1C and won't be getting it from the entry or expansion drafts.

I doubt too many star players want to sit out 7 months so that they may have a better chance in the playoffs and you have to acquire rentals because what are you gonna do the next season. Not to mention the league will be looking for legit medical evaluations.

But sure if you can make it work. Not many compressed 56 game seasons on the horizon hopefully
In the covid-19 year, it is not as hard as the normal season. Ya, you can say that the rental player is not as good as the star player, but it is still a good player. Imagine this: Leafs don't have Tavares for one season, and Seth Jones and Mika Zibanejad are in for his cap hit. That is why I don't understand why people keep saying Tampa Bay taking a risk here. TB is almost a cap team

Habs dominated play but their offense just isn’t good enough. High chance scoring opportunities were 5-1 Tampa. Scoring one goal a game just won’t cut it against Tampa and Montreal defensively makes some really bad plays. I think they may very well sweep here or five games max and Vasilesky likely gets the Conn Smythe.

Exactly dominating play and just throwing the puck to the net is a lot different than generating high chance scoring opportunities.

Hopefully other teams will model skill rather than collapse and hope for the best through hard work.

I’m enjoying Price not being able to keep the puck out of the net after all of the Playoff Price nonsense. Guy hasn’t been good in years.

Remember when hockey fans were dissing Tampa after getting swept by the Blue Jackets? Fire Cooper, shake up the core? Nah.
