The pure jealousy i am seeing on social media and on the main boards here about TB winning is incredible.

“not a real cup”
“Do it in a normal season”
“Cheaters”
“Over the cap”

Pure salt.

I hope Tampa closes out Montreal this year and then does it again next.

Do we really need to cry about not locking Toffoli up now? He was a supporting piece, that's it. He hasn't done anything in this series. They played their best period in Game 2 in the 2nd and still gave up a goal and failed to score. I knew the series was over right there.

I would prefer Toffoli over Virtanen, Holtby and especially Pearson.

Vegas fans are living in an alternate reality where they were a contending team, but their 6 game loss to the Habs had more to do with what they didn't do than what the Habs *did* do. Vegas would have gotten stomped in the finals, had they advanced. With their situation at center, they are so far, far away from winning a cup. They couldn't beat the Habs 2-1-2 neutral zone slog because they didn't have a puck distributor for their wingers. You can't just have your wingers break in alone all the time and expect success.

Tampa has picked apart the Habs and made Price look average.
I think it's a combination of;
  • the coach being out for so long, screwing up their system
  • the players playing above their heads and returning to Earth in this series
  • Price running out of fuel and having brain farts and not stealing any games
  • Forwards, especially Toffoli, having an awful series
  • Frustration leading to lack of discipline combined with a lack of knowing the refs threshold after the Chris Lee debacle

Do we really need to cry about not locking Toffoli up now? He was a supporting piece, that's it. He hasn't done anything in this series. They played their best period in Game 2 in the 2nd and still gave up a goal and failed to score. I knew the series was over right there.

As for the Canucks comment, hey, at least we have 2 good centers, a goalie and 3 good top 6 wingers and an offensive d-man. Our issues have to do with dead cap, lacking one top 6, lacking a bottom 6 aside from Motte and needing D. This is fixable. I truly believe this franchise is, on paper, closer to contending than Vegas is just because of how hard it is to acquire a #1C. We have that piece and they don't. Give the Sedins time to correct this.
There's people in here that still rant weekly about about Mike Gillis, Laurence Gilman, the departure of Mike Gillis and Laurence Gilman, and the hopeful return of Mike Gillis and Laurence Gilman.

So no, they're not going to get over Toffoli.

Given he was a known quantity, wanted to be here and seemed to be producing well and could get signed to a comparable deal with what he signed in Montreal, I honestly wouldn't mind him on the team.

The others, I'm not as optimistic with and the decision to pick Virtanen/Holtby over Toffoli/something else was a big msitake that hampered us cap-wise.

God i hope some big stuff happens this off season quickly so i don't have to read a bunch of overgrown babies whine about how the NHL is awful because a small market team had the audacity to have smart management and create a dynasty.

Im sure teams are going to be bending them over this offseason as they try and unload a ton of cap

I do hope for Habs to win as they will at least bring the cup back to Canada. But yeah Tampa definitely deserves it more, Kucherov is play with video game-esque numbers.

A bit more info has come out. Something about a faulty firework, and people scrambling to get out of a hot tub. He slipped and hit his head on concrete, and succumbed to his injuries. A freak accident and a terrible loss.

Athletic beat reporter Aaron Portzline just posted (5 mins ago) that autopsy found it to be a "fireworks mortar blast, chest trauma".

Just awful, fireworks are so ****ing stupid.

Wow. That's even worse.

Yeah I don't get the appeal of fireworks. I mean sure as a kid I enjoyed bottle rockets and roman candles etc. But now as an adult I think about forest fires, catastrophic injuries, and how much they f*** with my dog.

I've never liked personal fireworks.

I dont really understand why anyone intelligent enough to realize you're playing with explosions does.
