Wait. That doesn't look right. I may have misheard the team name. :o

Surprised to see so much love for those uniforms - personally, I think they're awful - but taste is subjective. Proving that: I actually like the name (at least, the most among the supposed finalists).

Happy for the Sound that they will have a team, though...

Now we need the Kings to switch to these full time.

And don a purple/gold throwback as their thirds.

Dear goodness not the Chevy logo era. Colors maybe but that crest is still awful for me. But if we are going to change back Duthtin's Jersey era is a must.

The CAP being frozen for the next couple of years does present a problem for some teams, and The Lighttning would be at the top of the list, with only 15 players signed and 5M in CAP Space.
Which five teams will a flat salary cap hurt the most in 2020-21? - TheHockeyNews

. TAMPA BAY LIGHTNING
– 15 players signed for 2020-21
– Projected cap space: $5.33 million
– Projected LTIR players: none

From an article in the Hockey's Writers website today, Bolts CAP issues might force a tough decision
"Joe Smith of The Athletic wrote in his mailbag report earlier this week that the Tampa Bay Lightning might have to look at trading either of restricted free agent center Anthony Cirelli or defenseman Mikhail Sergachev."

Cirelli is going to be really good, he's onliy 23 and already one of the best 2 way centers in the game, and an offensive threat as well. He's only going to get beter and if they move him, they'll get alot. But I think they'll avoid that , he's that good. I can't see Sergachev going anywhere But in order to get those 2 and the other contracts done, they will need to move contracts out.

With a few teams in similar situations, might be a good draft for the Kraken.

Dreger saying (no surprise) Gallant the lead dog for the coaching job.

TB is gonna have big issues unless some of their players with no trade agreements end up waiving. I’m not sure why they would, unless TB is trading the player to Dallas, where both places don’t have state income taxes. Being sent to a team with high taxes is like taking a pay cut.

BTW, I’d take Cernak back in a minute!

I'd argue Al Murray's first 5 years in Tampa may have been the best five year run any scouting director has had in the NHL in recent memory, Cirelli another one of those picks. Kind of makes me bitter because the Kings rarely found gems in the later rounds under Murray.

Notice how often the Kings stayed away from CHL juniors back then? I have a feeling that must’ve been a Leiweke/Gilmore thing after the Kings failed to get a number of CHL drafted prospects under contract, like the amazing Matt Zultek and Justin Papineau. The Kings loved taking collegiate guys and Europeans under Taylor.

Sergachev, please!

Definitely not an ideal spot for Tampa. Putting my armchair GM shoes on, I would start with:

- Ondrej Palat to Nashville for a draft pick / prospect. Nashville has Granlund/Smith going to UFA, so they could be interested in a short term replacement. No state tax for the Preds, so perhaps they'd be a team that Palat could waive his NTC. Palat has ~8.75 mil remaining on a two year deal which is slightly less than his 5.3 mil cap hit.

- Tyler Johnson to Arizona for Christian Fischer. Arizona adds a top 6 forward who also makes slightly less in real money than his cap hit. Tampa adds a bottom six RW who will be on a cheap contract.

(UFA)-Stamkos-Kucherov
Killorn-Point-Gourde
Coleman-Cirelli-Fischer
Paquette-Goodrow-(Joseph/Stephens/Verhaeghe)

Hedman-Cernak
McDonagh-Sergachev
Coburn-(Foote/UFA)

Vasilevskiy/McElhinney

That'd leave about 10 million for Sergachev/Cirelli but at best that leaves barely enough room for a veteran winger who might be willing to leave some money on the table to chase a Cup. They may be forced to sign Sergachev to a cheaper short term deal a la Zack Werenski rather than a longer deal like Ivan Provorov.

I think Palat and Kilorn might have to go, but that still leaves too many bodies and not enough cash.

They will have to get very creative.

If Arizona has a say in this, they should turn this proposal down. It makes no sense for them as they give up natural rivalries with the Kings, Ducks, and San Jose.

EDIT: I forgot to add Vegas to this list, which is also a natural rival for Arizona. If the NHL is so determined to do this for the sake of keeping Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver in the Pacific Division, why not just quit playing games and move the Coyote franchise to Houston when Seattle enters the NHL?

The obvious move is to move Colorado back to the Pacific when Seattle is added, and move Edmonton and Calgary to the Central Division.

The Phoenix area isn't craving in-division games with Dallas, Nashville, Minnesota, and Winnipeg. Additionally, the travel is ridiculous for them.

Like I said a day or two ago, this is what's been said all along. It seems to be a done deal. I doubt Arizona is happy about it.
