I remember him getting his ass kicked by Mario Lemieux. And he actually held out an entire season. Aki Berg of all people.

137 PIM's in Finland that year. One of the highest totals in the league. He really was part Scott Stevens, in Finland. Mikko Eloranta was up there too. A teammate of Berg's. Marko Tuomainen led the league in PIM's. Both he and Berg were on the Kings the following season. As was Karalahti. Seems like the Kings had some scouts over there.

Carolina Hurricanes signed Jake Gardiner to a 4 yr deal, 4 .05 M per.

Good deal. I like Gardiner. He's a good puck moving d, pretty good playmaker, works the PP well and gives a young d core a good veteran player. Adding him to an already good defense makes them a better team. Also maybe puts Faulk back on the trading block perhaps.

I felt for too many years he was stuck in a bad situation in Toronto both for lack of leadership and a weak system

He'll fare much better in Carolina.

NBC bumps Pierre McGuire from top coverage team

NBC replacing McGuire , which is long overdue . Beside the fact he's ultra creepy, he stinks
Brian Boucher is replacing him and has been very good , I Think, since he's been in that role. He's smart, reads the plays and situations well and as a former player, has good insight into game situations. I also liked him in Philly, just a class act.

Don’t worry though, they’re keeping Mike Milbury!

This'll be an unpopular opinion but I do wish they could find at least a minor role for someone as knowledgable as McGuire. He's absolutely creepy/cringey and shouldn't be between the benches but there's gotta be something someone that passionate, knowledgable, and well-connected can do.

When Pierre's on TV, it almost seems like a flip gets switched where he goes into character. His daily TSN radio interviews are a lot more subdued yet informative.

As I said on the main board, they nuked the least offensive of the three bozos they have on their flagship broadcast. Pierre isn't my favorite, but compared to Emerick and Olczyckckczvz he's Foster f***ing Hewitt.

An aftergame fluffer

"By himself" with a nice pick from one of his teammates. BUST

It's hilarious that the Bleacher Report sent me a notification of this goal with the caption: "Rangers phenom didn't need anyone's help."

Media treating him like the second coming can really ruin the experience of enjoying him as a prospect.

Faulk for Kase+

If Faulk turns down deal to Anaheim I wonder if the ducks then move Kase. Crazy to me that names can get out before deals are finalized. Imagine being Zucker

Yeah there's really not a deal the Kings could make for Ehlers now. Pointless to trade a top prospect for him a-la Schenn for Richards because that accelerates the age of the team. Not really any vets WPG would want, I think. And I'd give up a 1st for him easily, but it's a very wildcard first right now, plus they'd rightfully want more than a middle-1st pick.

Per friedman other teams were shocked to hear Kase was available at all, too. So if that falls through I'd expect he gets a ransom for soomeone.

He’s the type of player the Kings need. Unfortunately, I don’t see much the Kings could offer without losing any of their top prospects, and the Jets are unlikely to take back garbage like Toffoli and Forbort, sadly.

this. It is a cap move so either the jets would want an NHL player with lower cap + pick/prospect or pick/prospect. Either way not a good deal for LA
