Yeah, it could of turned out better for them, no doubt, but I’d say they salvaged it by grabbing Carlo and Forsbsacka-Karlsson in the 2nd round. Lauzon (3rd Bruins 2nd rd choice) is a defenseman and is young. He’s had a brief stint with the big club.
All 3 of the above are in Providence.
As for the other first round selections,
Zboril is still only 22 and we know defenseman take longer to develop. I’d still give him a couple more years.
Senyshyn looks like he’s ticketed as a bottom 6 guy IF he can make the jump.
In 2003, the Kings drafted Boyle 26th OV. Sure, it wasn’t a great selection for LA, but he’s been a fine pro. That’s all you can hope for at the end of the 1st round.
Brown’s career speaks for itself and yes, Tambellini was a miss even though he did get in close to 250 NHL games.
The rest of that Kings draft only yielded Pirnes (6th round) who had a cup of coffee but and was gone like a fart in the wind.
I know the Kings nabbed Cernak with their 2nd round pick in 15’, I was hoping they were going to select Kylington at the time. Early days, but both look like they could carve out good careers.
