That helmet rule won't fly. Could you imagine being in a scrum around the net, losing your helmet and having to drop everything and go to your bench? That's just stupid.

Yeah, I get valuing safety, but if you can figure out a way to loosen/knock off a helmet, you are effectively forcing a line change

Aho with 2 goals on 5 shots. This one on a breakaway...

he's got 29 goals on the year

THe Canes are swarming. I would love to see them upset a team or two in the playoffs. so much fun to watch

This is what a great young forward looks like, been so long since we had one this good in LA, hopefully we see another one in the next year or two.

BTW, how good was that 2015 draft. Scary to think how good Boston would be if they hadn't whiffed on 2 of their 3 mid 1st rounders.

Especially now that Strome is looking lethal

A random 35th pick too.

Boston really pulled a 2003 LA with that draft.

LA drafted the player that in all likleyhood will play more games as a king than anyone in the history of the team, oh and captained the team to 2 stanley cups. Boston hopes that pulled an LA 2003 draft.

That said I get what you mean. I think 2001 is a better example though

Yeah, it could of turned out better for them, no doubt, but I’d say they salvaged it by grabbing Carlo and Forsbsacka-Karlsson in the 2nd round. Lauzon (3rd Bruins 2nd rd choice) is a defenseman and is young. He’s had a brief stint with the big club.

All 3 of the above are in Providence.

As for the other first round selections,
Zboril is still only 22 and we know defenseman take longer to develop. I’d still give him a couple more years.

Senyshyn looks like he’s ticketed as a bottom 6 guy IF he can make the jump.

In 2003, the Kings drafted Boyle 26th OV. Sure, it wasn’t a great selection for LA, but he’s been a fine pro. That’s all you can hope for at the end of the 1st round.

Brown’s career speaks for itself and yes, Tambellini was a miss even though he did get in close to 250 NHL games.

The rest of that Kings draft only yielded Pirnes (6th round) who had a cup of coffee but and was gone like a fart in the wind.

I know the Kings nabbed Cernak with their 2nd round pick in 15’, I was hoping they were going to select Kylington at the time. Early days, but both look like they could carve out good careers.

Devils played an exhibition in Switzerland before starting the season in Sweden. I wouldn't be surprised if the Kings stopped in Slovenia for an exhibition if they're starting the season in Prague.

Yeah, a lot of people forget they had 3 first in that draft, one being ours, and basically got 2 firsts for Lucic. Stupid Lombardi!

I believe Ken Holland once said, you never draft a project in the 1st round, which exactly what they did. The could've moved up to grab a better guy but Al Murray and the clueless bunch just couldn't pass up that size.It took 6 years to get to LA. Boyle was a bust in LA and almost was out of the league until Torts told him get his shit together or you'll be out . It took a serious wakeup call and a kick in the ass to salvage his career.

NHL GM meetings: The helmet rule and other takeaways

Some of the issues being tossed around

Players whose helmet is knocked off during a game, must immediately head to the bench
Teams on a PP get to decide what faceoff circle in the offensive zone they want the puck dropped in
Clocks beings inserted on the end boards

How about strapping them on better and making sure there isn't a 6 " gap between the chin and strap? The NHL is the only contact sport where the chin strap isn't attached to the chin. Tom Wilson's helmet comes off on every hit. Look at Simmonds helmet, thats coming off the first contact he makes.
