like any player he has a lot of friends back home. I personally think and am not allowed to speculate much on the fact that matters to him, but there is the that the fact he owns a home in burnaby (Don Taylor). That the # of players he still knows from Minor or Jnr is really high, and that his teammate from Jnr Sven Baertschi has a long term plan here.
This doesn't matter at all if Johansen has been anything but compliant with contracts or his previous team. He left Ohio as a very high profile player you rarely see trades like this, and it coincides with a theory he always wanted to come home. Did the connections mean something to him he established in CBJ? Or is it all just the plan to end up home without killing his chance to play and earn a real contract when the time is right.
He even took a fighting unsportsmanlike for dropping his gloves tonight, Benning likely lauded at a replay.
Vancouver doesn't have great travel no, but it does in the playoffs compared to Stl, Dal, Chi or Nsh. I can't really argue with Ny or NJ paying him to be a 1c if my original travel point matters to that extent. But who would want to live there compared to Vancouver as a multi millionaire, when taxes are offset by the Candian dollar exchange rate. NY taxes arn't fun, and New Jersey is New Jersey
Nothing to do with the Canucks, but just live his life in his hometown
I grew up in Pitt Meadows and when I think of Port Moody, star player playing in Portland, and then you get drafted to Ohio and Nashville, with previous contract issues, and Vancouver having 10-20 million when he needs a contract and room for a 1c.
It's a stretch but I see his twitter always retweet his minor team or the port moody fire fighters. And he is home all year round, even missing training camp last year playing for the Vancouver giants.
Why not give reasons he would want to play for Nashville if there's at all an inclination a franchise player leaving CBJ isn't at all a little sign of smoke. We're his home team and need a 1c, Let's dream.
