It's been a tough career for a phenomenal player like Gagne. Severe injuries now his father passing. Best wishes to him and I hope he can return to play. Good that he won a cup with us. Good last name for an athlete too.

They certainly have a unique makeup that's for sure. Their goaltending is atrocious. I'm actually insulted that people compare the Wild to the Kings. Plus I think Chuck Fletcher is an overrated as hell GM.

We should be. It's a terrible comparison in every way possible.

Fletcher is extremely overrated, the same problems that the Pens have are present and magnified in the Wild.

Two main key guys on huge contracts? Check. But Parise and Suter aint Crosby, and Malkin.

Questionable goaltending at every level? Yep. Fleury is remarkably better than any of Harding, Keumper, and Backstrom.

Remaining roster made up of cast-offs, and spare part players? Very much so. Excepr Zucker, Nino, Koivu, Brodin, Spurgeon, Carter, Haula, etc aren't nearly as good as what the Pens have.

I just remember hearing how much they were looking forward to sticking Brodin and Spurgeon on Kopitar in the playoffs because Spurgeon hit him good once, how Kuemper is going to be an elite goalie, how Koivu is basically kopitar and they'd take Granlund over Carter, and one-by-one how Zucker, Haula, throw-a-forward-here is going to be a top-6 forward. Instead they missed the playoffs, threw Kuemper to the wolves with predictable results, are watching Koivu tail off in his career while Granlund makes sportscenter every time he scores (hint: rarely), and all their depth players, while tenacious, aren't saving them. I'm loving it.

That being said there is a lot of latent talent there, it's just getting abused by Yeo and they really need a better GM to sort the better pieces out and help develop them while jettisoning redundancies.

So much for the TB facing the worst defensive team in the league. WTF is going on?

Watching Prime Ticket tonight, I had no idea Boudreau was scheduled to fly with Ace Bailey on his same 9/11 flight. Andy Murray essentially saved Boudreau's life. Murray called him 2 days before and had him change his flight to arrive a day earlier for a last minute coaches meeting Murray scheduled (Boudreau was coach of the Monarchs at the time).

Just an off night for the Bolts. Every team has them.

Starting Nabokov probably didn't help either. Add to the fact the Flyers last few home games have been poor efforts, they were probably due for a breakout game.

Damn, that is crazy. I had no idea.

• Henrik Lundqvist set an NHL record on Saturday, becoming the first goalie in league history to win 20 games in each of his first 10 seasons.

Stick tap to Hank, that's pretty impressive. And with both the Caps and Rags playing so well over the past 15 games or so, the rest of the season should prove to be quite the dogfight for that Wildcard spot.

God damn, really? I mean, I know his dad died, and it's terrible, but it seems odd. Especially after he sat out all of last year. I hope whatever he needs to do he works it out for himself. Just hate to see him go out like this.

That sucks and I do hope everything works out for him for the best. That said, I'm curious what this does to the Bruins cap wise. Do they suspend him and it doesn't count against the cap or does his hit still count?

Cool for Hank, I'm surprised that's never been done before though.

getting 20 wins in a rookie season is a rare feat, since you are usually lucky to play 20 games

That combined with being good enough to be a starter for 10 years, and avoiding a long term injury as a goalie. I can see why its a rare feat

tonight the Sabres are honoring Hasek, retiring #39 (as well they should) Great goalie who dragged an average team thru playoff runs. And very entertaining to watch. I'm glad I had the opportunity to see him play, unconventional , a head case at times but brilliant.

So on Hockey Central at noon, they said this incredible stat about him

He had 389 career wins, 335 of them came after the age of 30. They also mentioned

This is another pretty impressive stat

After becoming the Sabres' full-time starting goalie in 1993-94, he went on to lead the league in save percentage six years in a row

•During that six-year run he finished with a save percentage lower than .930 just one time (that would be the 1995-96 season when he only finished with a .920 mark). Those five years at .930 or better represent five of the top-16 individual save percentage performances in recorded league history.

Kings aren't catching the Ducks, we are better off rooting for them to win in regulation against all Western opponents.

It may FEEL impossible or far away, but if we beat NJ and they lose to TO or NJ and then we beat them on Saturday, suddenly there's only a 6 point gap with half a season to go.

I predicted we'd still win the division and I'm sticking by it.

that is nuts.

The Predators put Mark Arcobello on waivers. Given how some teams are lacking center depth, I wonder if anyone picks him up

They are really trying to rid themselves of a contract. First Roy now him. I wonder if they have something planned with that contract opening.

His 600k cap doesn't have that much of an impact, but he is suspended by the team and won't be paid so his cap won't count against them.

No matter how much money he has made in his life, quitting his job for his family is an honorable thing to do.

Hope "Johnny Hockey TM" can handle the heat!

so stupid for him to allow people to call him Johnny Hockey.
The story is he was known as Johnny Hockey at College. Which to me is fine as he probably was the bets hockey player on campus. The nickname has stuck and here in Calgary there are two schools of thought.
1) he never came up with the name, if people are going to call him that good on him for taking advantage of it and turning it into some money.
2) he allows people to call him that, and is a cocky ******* for it

I am in camp 2

In the Methot rumor, one poster claims that he's apparently worth a number 1 center or Lw......otherwise it's a step backward.
