Yes but I have heard them say they are not going to forfeit the pick they are going to make the NHL take it. Makes me wonder if on draft day next year they are going to still try and go up to the podium and make a selection.

They lost their best player, that's not very easy to recover from. Imagine the Kings without Kopitar.

I think the Kings have the depth to overcome it, especially at center, though it isn't a walk in the park. They lost him for less than 25% of the season. The Devils just don't have the same depth as most contenders.

What's funny is that the same thing happened to them after they won their first Cup in '95 and missed the playoffs in '96.

Nope. Played who they were told to, can't do anything about who wins other games.

Gaborik just makes Columbus so much more legit, that was one of the better deadline pickups in awhile, especially for how little he cost them.

It's not gonna happen, but just to answer your question, the Ucks could go 0-2-1 and the Kings 3-0-0, creating a tie at 63 points and the Kings have more ROW.
