Benefiting from the hard work of his teammate winning the battle ✔️

So, is every goal the result of someone doing it all themselves?

Marian Gaborik scored a bunch of massive goals for the Kings in the 2014 playoffs, the vast majority of them not from some individual effort.

And even when Caufield was the one who made the primary play such as the primary apples in OT of Game 5 vs. Toronto and Game 4 vs. Winnipeg and last game to TT the credit on this forum went to the guys finishing the plays. So whether he is setting it up or finishing the plays it's still someone elses credit it seems.

The kid is 20 years old, playing 1st line for a team in the conference finals and has a 5 game scoring streak in the SC playoffs which a month ago many said he was going to get eaten alive and exposed.

Friedman said the Leafs told him that Caufield entering the series was the turning point, why would the Leafs hype up a Habs rookie? Maybe he actually was the turning point in the series? We know how TT feels. At what point is he just a very good, very young player making a massive difference for the Habs in these playoffs?

I'm just saying the criticisms of him are consistent.

You keep chest thumping about how wrong people are about him "being exposed." He's not doing the work which would expose him.

He doesn't have to do it all himself, but chiming in every time Caufield gets a point doesn't disprove the criticisms. He's dependent on the right players.

As for Gaborik, plenty of his goals were from getting involved in battles.

He IS a very good, young player making a difference. But him being very good and him benefitting from players who insulate him from his weaknesses are not mutually exclusive.

And to no surprise, it’s the little shit on Vegas who did it.

This entire crew should not work another game in the playoffs. I usually side with the refs and give them the benefit of the doubt, but good lord that might be the worst miss I've ever seen.

I wonder if the league doesn't give JM a game, the onus is on the player to control his stick, that is a violent stick penalty to the head. Even worse its a 5'10 guy swinging high on a 6'3 guy. Not like it was Mark Stone on Caufield or something where the stick is at his chest.

Not the first time he’s done that.

He’s a dirty turd.

Marc Bergevin deserves a lot of credit. He's had a pretty sick little run here the last few years.

Trades his best forward and gets back a kid who almost instantly becomes a gritty and talented 1C, makes the NHL at 20 with no AHL time. 1st liner at 21 and probably the future captain of the team down the road. Not a bad return for a 30 year old who didn't want to be there.

Trades Subban for Weber, a deal that he was heavily criticized for. Subban seems more interested in building his brand and Weber is a rock on their blueline and by all indications a great lockerroom leader. Just starting to get the feeling that Weber may be hoisting it in a couple of weeks, idk maybe I'm just optimistic.

Steals Caufield in the middle of the 1st round in 2019, then vetoes Caufield's ill-thought out request to turn pro last spring, instead telling him to go back to Wisconsin and get better. Enters the NHL running as a 1st liner at 20. 13-7-2 since he joined team.

Signs Toffoli to a $4.25 mill cap hit FA deal and watches him score at a 44 goal pace (82 games) while being what appears atleast is an amazing mentor to his two young linemates. Has continued it right through the playoffs. Montreal's 1st line costs them $6.1 mill, or about 300k more than Dustin Brown's cap hit this season.

Trades for Josh Anderson, a character forward with size and underrated offensive ability for a generic 2nd/3rd line tweener in Max Domi. Domi is just never going to be anything of significance in the league and Anderson is a valuable asset, especially for a team that is more finesse and was in desperate need of a guy like him.

Signs Corey Perry on the eve of the season for 750k cap hit. Perry has provided solid grit, leadership and front of net presence and chipped in some offense all year, especially in the playoffs.

Pulls a Dean Lombardi and fires Claude Julien before team spirals out of control.

Not bad for a guy that most of their fanbase wanted to run out of town.

Shit guys. I only hated Perry because he was a Duck. Dude is kind of a stud. Still don't want him to win another Cup but I hope he got five more goals in him the rest of this series.

Or get hit in the face five more times and actually draw the penalties.

He's been really noticeable most nights for them. I didn't know if he had any gas left in the tank but he seems like he has been a great fit.

That wasn't the only called missed, but the most blatant. There was a straight up, old school Matt Greene interference call that was ignored with about a minute to go. I'm talking stepping out of your lane, cleaning a guy out as he chases the puck that is 10 feet away from him type thing . It's the type of penalty that the voice over guy ends most instruction videos with "this is interference" ,

Hahaha. I know exactly what play you are talking about.

I remember when they said they were going to start enforcing that tighter and at the time my first thought was "Wow, Matt Greene is f'ed"

the thing is, they called that on the isles in the other series, and it was no where near as blatant. This one was textbook interference.

Love seeing Vegas lose but that was a strange one. Montreal had 8 shots on goal until like 10 minutes left. Amazing they won.
