This Tampa and Florida game is so f***ing chippy. So good.

Florida getting their asses handed to them so in turn Duclair with an extremely dirty slash against Kucherov and Hornqvist with a boarding major against Sergachev.

If Florida ownership doesn't panic and blow it up afterwards, they should be back next season. They got a good team. If they can upgrade Yandle, they could do some damage.

how many did the Kings have in 12 and 14?

Players on both cup winners (I might have forgotten one or two):

Kopitar
Richards
Carter
Brown
Williams
Quick
Doughty
Lewis
Stoll
Voynov
Greene
King
Martinez
Clifford
Nolan

Of that entire list, the lowest scorer who appeared in all 20 playoff games in 2012 (Nolan) had 2 points. Which is currently more than the entire Oilers roster. Heck, Trevor Lewis had 9 points in 20 games. The Jets' top scorer is at . 5 points/gm. Lewis would challenge to be the Oilers' top scorer right now, and he didn't have a McDavid/Draisaitl.

I dunno, doesn't look like a whole lot on either play. Slashing, yes but more about where it hit him than being some big overhead swing. That hit by Hornquist he makes body contact when they're like 15 feet from the boards.

I forgot how violent the 1st round of NHL playoffs could be. This Tampa - Florida series is wild.

I think Hornquist got a 10 with it because he was being a bitch baby all 3rd.

Duclair's slash is well after the play, like 3-4 seconds after the puck left his stick and it in an area where there isn't any padding. That's a chicken shit play by Duclair who had hardly played all game against Tampa's best player.

Also, it was during the 3rd where the score was being run up, play had been extremely chippy, and things were spiraling out of control. Context matters also.

All true, but I think on some level the universe is flipping the middle finger at Tampa and Kucherov since he shouldn't even be there in the first place. Will be interesting to see if he plays next game or not. Guessing he will.

Hehe that was kinda my first response but I held back. Glad you said it. ;)

It’s 100% in character for his persona, going all the way back to Regehr tunnel-of-death-Ong him and him giving up on hockey for the rest of the game.

He’ll take his shots when protected by the refs or from behind when he know he can get away with it

the rest of the time he’ll play dead until he can play without getting his hands dirty

Game out of hand? cool, I’m going to the locker room. Let me get my massage early.

Gutless hockey player. Immense talent, but everything wrong with the game.

Please save me refs, it’s getting too rough out here and I can’t cheap shot anyone when they’re not looking because they’re all aware

The level of pace and speed Vegas plays with, especially their breakouts, is something else. The Kings look like a high school team compared to them.

TMac has experimented with different approaches since coming here.

Initially the Kings were playing up tempo. They had some success on the forecheck and getting shot attempts. Some of the advanced metrics looked pretty good, but they couldn't keep the puck out of their own net.

Towards the end of last season, they settled on a more defensive system and had some team success with it.

Structured team defense is the best way to compensate for a lack of overall team talent. I think that's the philosophy of playing a 1-3-1.

When you are drafting supposed high end talent with lottery picks why are you playing a system for teams that lack talent? There is no excuse for the Reign playing it. In my opinion.
