GM's this time around won't be as caught off guard. The literally gave Vegas a solid core of young guys just to get out of bad contracts, then acted in shock at what they became.

This one was straight up robbery...

"The Golden Knights are taking on Clarkson’s mess of a contract, but they get the Blue Jackets’ 2017 first-round pick, 2019 second-round pick, and young forward William Karlsson, who qualifies as the expansion draft pick. Teams need to let Seattle make a decision and not pay a premium to protect guys. Vegas was gifted 4 top 6 forwards, a top pairing stud defenseman, and multiple picks lol.

They'll always have that Tampa sweep. Might be the Jackets peak for a good while. Although with TB now having won the Cup, with a decent chance to keep doing it, even that sweep doesn't have the same spice it once did. Back to the Rick Nash days for Columbus.
