Kings really just need to focus on getting healthy and maybe dumping a bad contract if a good opportunity presents itself(highly doubtful). Otherwise, I'd rather they be quiet at the deadline with the expansion draft on the horizon.

I know our top players are in their prime right now, but I agree with this. Just keep rolling and don't do anything stupid.

More likely TBL Pro scout team stayed in So Cal after team rolled through. 2 #CBJ scouts listed tonight of more interest.

CBJ? They need a center right? Maybe they'd be interested in Carter. :D

Gaborik for Seth Jones!! Do it Deano.

May have to wait till after season and before expansion but Columbus is likely to lose a key D-man in expansion. I wander if a Savard or Murray could be pried out of the blue jackets so that they do not lose anyone for free.

About that slow start....

Tom Gulitti ‏@TomGulittiNHL 15h15 hours ago

Justin Williams had two goals in his first 24 games. Has 14 goals in 21 games since then.

and 22 pts in his last 21 games.

&&&&&

and best of luck to Clarke MacArthur, done for the year and possibly his career, 4 concussions in 18 mos is too many.

Seems to be (from what I've seen of him and read) a really good teammate, hard working ,good in the room, puts full minutes in his shifts, pretty much this:

The first player on the ice for practice every day, and the last one to leave, MacArthur was determined.

Sens giving him the option to continue to travel with the team, as his presence is that strongly felt among them.

They have more issues on forward and expansion than defense. Due to Hartnell, Foglino , Dubinsky and Clarkson's NMC's, they could lose a key forward of
Brandon Saad, Cam Atkinson, Boone Jenner, Alexander Wennberg Matt Calvert, Josh Anderson and William Karlsson . I'm guessing if Saad, Atkinson, Jenner and Wennberg would be a given to get protected. But with 3 NMC's, they could lose a key young player (Clarkson is exempt due to Injury). Gagne been great for them, so I'm guessing he'll get protected.

As for defense, Murray gets protected. He's too good. Jack Johnson and Savard would be exposed. Savard is better, so Johnson would get exposed.

Not easy though...and I still keep reading they are in on Duchene. But I guess part of that would be 1 or more players going back, so they could adjust their draft list

Heh, at this pace Kopitar might not even reach 14 goals.

Glad to see Williams doing well.

Chicago Sun Times reporting that the Hawks are talking to the WIngs about Tatar or Nyquist (winger for Toewes line) Hawks have a bunco of young defense to offer in return, which the WIngs are looking for. Preferably Tater, at 2.75 (2017) 10 goals this year, 50 over the last 2 seasons. Nyquist at 4.7 for2 more years, has 7 this year, 28 in 13-14 and 27 in 14-15.

Two league sources told the Sun-Times the Hawks have had preliminary discussions about Red Wings wingers Gustav Nyquist and Tomas Tatar. The Red Wings are in the market for a defenseman, and the Hawks have 10 or 11 NHL-ready blue-liners in Chicago and Rockford.

THey have also been talking to Toronto (JVR) Avs (iginla) an Stars (sharpe).

Was really hoping the Kings could do a bit better in keeping up with the Hawks organization... or Wings for that matter.

Sharks trade Wingels to Sens with some salary retained

Sens communications ‏@Media_Sens 1h1 hour ago

TRADE: The #Sens have acquired forward Tommy Wingels from San Jose in exchange for Buddy Robinson, Zack Stortini and a 2017 7th-round pick.

Sens communications ‏@Media_Sens 1h1 hour ago

As part of the trade, San Jose will retain 30 per cent of Wingels’ 2016-17 salary.

Whats the deal with Las Vegas.

Do they still need a new name/logo?

From this

http://thehockeywriters.com/vegas-golden-knights-trademark-details/

They have 6 mos from the time the trademark was rejected by the U S Patent and Trademark office to respond with evidence to support their claim.

But it could drag into next season. Because the Patent Office also has time to contemplate and reply back, etc.

Can the Golden Knights officially enter the NHL, select players in the expansion draft, and begin the 2017-18 season without a registered trademark? Yes, but they would not have the same legal benefits as the other NHL franchises who are registered.

Some trade rumors and thoughts in EF's 30 thoughts column today

http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/30-thoughts-hanzal-talks-stall-canadiens-coyotes/

and Hanzal?

1. We’ve been hearing about high prices for rentals. Word is Arizona’s initial ask from Montreal for Martin Hanzal was Michael McCarron and two draft picks — one a first-rounder, the other conditional. I look at it this way: You never know until you ask. But it also tells you why Hanzal is not a Canadien. We’ll see if both teams circle back.

There have been a LOT of slewfoots lately (mostly by POS Tkachuk) and I really want the NHL to throw the book at them. Such a dangerous, cowardly play with such a minimal punishment. It's up there with spearing for me, maybe worse since you can't see it coming at all nor can you defend yourself at all.

Interesting. I've read numerous times that Williams wasn't very good and was done as a player.

He's reinvented his game! Adding the pass off the end boards to himself because he can't enter the zone with the puck and can't dump it in the corner because he can't win a board battle.

He'd be ****ing garbage in the Kings system, just like when Lombardi failed to offer him a contract.

Also I don't miss his ******** passes to point that were bouncing a foot off the ice and on the D's backhands. Mostly these were made out of frustration from not being able to do anything with the puck.

He was always good at lurking around the net, but not much else.

Edit: Williams play was a big factor in Lombardi spending assets for Lucic.

A former NHLPA senior consultant, Richard Rodier , file a claim that NHL has misreported millions of dollars in revenue

http://www.tsn.ca/rodier-levels-claims-against-nhlpa-in-email-to-players-agents-1.657429

Under the NHL and NHLPA’s labour agreement, players receive 50 per cent of the league’s overall revenue, known as hockey-related revenue (HRR). Rodier wrote in his Tuesday email that if the union pursued his potential claims, which he said are worth about $400 million (US), players’ escrow deductions might be cut by 25 per cent to 35 per cent.

The NHLPA is not happy with his actions:

To that point, the NHLPA had sent Rodier at least four letters threatening legal action or a possible complaint filed with the Law Society of Upper Canada. One such letter charged that Rodier had violated a non-disclosure clause of his employment contract with the union, and that he was inappropriately sharing confidential NHL team financial information with the public.

Your hate for him is always dumbfounding.

He'd be **** in the Kings system? The same one that he played in and produced?

So you didn't like his production in his last season? Should of shipped out a lot of guys after 2015 then, including #11.

I'm not questioning your hockey knowledge because you do understand the game, but you have blinders on when it comes to Williams.

I'm not even a Williams fanboy but you force me to come off as one.

As for Lucic, that was on DL and the fact that Williams contract was up. If Williams has another year on his contract, the trade doesn't get made.

He'd have to play with Kopitar because the other centers aren't good enough to make up for his lack of defense. He isn't cut out for first line duty, too slow to play with Pearson/Carter, and too much of a liability to play with Dowd. He's not fast, can't win board battles because he's about 180 soaking wet.

He is good at getting the other team to forget about him and finding loose change, but the Kings couldn't sustain a cycle/forecheck with him on the ice.

I'd really take Lewis or King over him. It's great he's found a way to make an impact on Washington.

Doing a pretty good job of scoring 20 goals or right around there since 2010 for a guy that has a lot of "can't" and "liability" in his skill set.

Huge leader for this team as well and a playoff hero.

Just strange to pick this guy as really the only player you seem to crap on.
