Well he's clearly the only player on the ice for the Senators according to the 5 threads about him on the main board. Apparently he is also now "King Karlsson". Good times.

He's been the best player in the playoffs and imo it's not particularly close. If there were ever a time for the threads, it's now. The only thing I have beef with is people rewriting history and pretending this is the same dude he's been since 2011, suggesting no one else should have won a Norris except when he was injured/out.

The streak must go on!

Watching the Caps beat the Pens would be just like watching the Kings beat the Hawks in 2014

"We played well every game, we played well enough to win." - Lundqvist

I HATE excuses like that. If you play well enough to win, you win. If you don't win, you didn't play well enough to win. Garbage.

and how about not hiding behind the convenient 'we' (not just him alot of players do that) man up and point the finger at yourself. Use 'I' , grow a pair and be a leader.

At least Stephan owned up (as well he should have) and shoulder blame.

Solemn Derek Stepan: "Individually I'm disappointed and ashamed and flat out embarrassed. It kills me that I was not able to find my game."

Don't mind at all hearing it when it's true. He's been nothing short of amazing.

and playing with 2 fractures in his foot.

But it wasn't just in the playoffs, I saw a big change in his game this year and I'd say Boucher had a lot to do with that. He's a much more complete player. I've seen a coach do that before (Babcock does that too) If Andersen didn't lose time this year due to the horrible ordeal with his wife's cancer, they'd have probably netted more points. All in all, adjusting to a new coach /system isn't easy. And he's got them playing well, winning shifts and driving into the ECF. That's pretty good in your first year. When he was hired last summer, he mentioned how much he learned in Europe and was going to implement that into his system.

This is a pretty good article on him and the Sens

Ottawa’s players say the precise and exacting Boucher instilled the right dynamic from the first day of training camp. The work ethic Boucher established has carried over into springtime for a franchise that has not advanced past the second round since the 2007 finals against the Anaheim Ducks.

“Everyone when we go out there is relentless; everyone wants to win,†Pageau said. “We found a way to win, and it’s when we trust our system and when we play in it. As players, we really respect and have bought into his system.â€

Williams may be one of, if not my favorite King of all time.

Story goes that he was the one who rallied the troops before SCF game six in 2012. Love that guy. Pure competitor.

I think Boucher deserves a ton of credit. He's got Bobby Ryan laying down blocking shots.

For sure.

And on top of that, when your captain is playing with broken bones, how much of a turd would you be to not put out your maximum effort?

Give Boucher credit for the xs-and-os and the keys to the ignition, give Karlsson the credit for the leadership by example.

Hmm... I seem to recall injuries being used as a crutch for Kopitar's pisspoor effort.

Karlsson is a hell of a talent but best player in the world? The mainboard ***** over him is a joke. Where were the Doughty threads when he dominated the playoffs? Sorry, but I'd rather have Doughty over Karlsson especially in a big game. Doughty is just as talented but tries to do too much at times and Karlsson is better at getting shots through. Doughty is far better defensively...

LOL, there's more than "getting shots through" that Karlsson does well. Please, let's try not to sound exactly like those bitter Sens fans years ago when they downplayed Doughty's performance.

Doughty's go to move, besides his big wind up that tends to get blocked, is to blindly throw the puck at the net along the goal line.

Karlsson is carrying the Sens. I think Doughty can do more to demonstrate his abilities, but try to give some credit where it's due, Karlsson is among the best players in the world, and his performance this season is a significant reason why the Sens are in the Conference Finals.

Doughty was dominant in both cup runs and is also among the best in the world.

Pierre LeBrun was on TSN 1050 talking about Ilya Kovalchuk and where he mind end up

He thinks that Kovalchuk will get 5-6M per year on a multi year deal. He says that a contender would be where he'd want to land but that might be a problem, because of the sign and trade and what the Devils can/will get from whom. He cited the Panthers, SHarks, Rangers and Habs as possible landing spots.

“Here’s the last thing I’ll say: what the Devils believe is their best chance of compensation – in terms of a match with another team – may not necessarily at the end of the day overlap with what Jay Grossman and Ilya Kovalchuk find is the best destination.

“So this’ll be interesting, trying to marry those two moons in terms of what the Devils want and what Jay Grossman and Ilya Kovalchuk want.â€

MIke Heika (Dallas Morning News) that the Stars have some $$$ to spend and listed some forwards . One being TJ Oshie to play with Benn and Seguin. That would be one killer line

they have 18M, but if they sign Bishop, that will eat a chunk, but one of Niemi and Lehtonen will be leaving and that will bring (over 10M between them) Lehtonon and his 6M would be good to move.

A hard work ethic? So how long until the players tune him out?

Right. No one seemed to care about the playoffs as part of a defenseman's rep until now. Doughty being a monster often got written off as 'small sample size.'

Hmm... I seem to recall injuries being used as a crutch for Kopitar's pisspoor effort.

Complete non-sequitur just to crap on Kopitar. Nice.

I tend to agree.

Doughty is capable of much more than what we've got out of him in recent years. In the Olympics Doughty and Karlsson are arguably the best two players in the world. The version of Doughty we've got in recent years here in LA isn't nearly as good.

Second Half Kopitar, was better Kopitar, still looks slower though. He should look a little slower, Kopitar has a lot of hockey on his body.

I envision, 65 points next season, 22 Goals 42 Assists, around there.

I don't care about the Winter "Classic" one bit so it doesn't bother me that a bottom-feeder like Buffalo is in the game.

However, if Buffalo is the best hockey market in the US (the ratings seem to reflect this) then they will actually be part of the population that watches this game regardless of who is in it. If this is the case, why put a team in it that nobody outside Buffalo will care about when the good people of Buffalo will tune in even if their team isn't in the game?

While it would suck for STH'ers who "lose" the home game, wouldn't it be fun if the Winter Classic was a rematch of the previous season's SCF, weather-permitting of course?
