Well, the Sharks play St. Louis next. So, not quite yet. I think San Jose has probably pulled away from us. It's come down to Los Angele, Anaheim, St. Louis, and Colorado. 3 of 4 will make it.

This was addressed to me so I'll respond to it. Not sure why the comment. A few points;

Gibson made several spectacular saves including one of the best sequences you'll see all year. Certainly something you won't see with Quick now. 5 lightning fast saves in a row which was incredible.

Gibson Stoned Draisaitl 4 times before the one timer goal he had no chance on. 2 others were one timers, another was a perfect deflection. Drai is no slouch either in the scoring department.

The Oilers absolutely dominated the Ducks in the 2nd period and Gibson was the only reason the Ducks were still in the game. Should've been 5 or 6-1 at that point. We're talking a goalie that looked so good it was causing shots wide from players that figured they needed the perfect shot to beat him.

What goal do you think was bad? First goal McD shoots perfectly off the screen blocker side. Perfectly placed shot inside the post and also while skating fast and changing the angle. How many goalies stop that puck, that was screened, that they can't see?

2nd Ty Rattie tip in close. You gonna say that was a bad goal?

3rd Drasaitl perfectly placed one time bomb. That shot was so hot it could burn through the netting. Drai has an exceptional one timer. Again Gibson had a miraculous save on another of those.

4th McD Nirvana and perfect finish from Bear. Nobody is getting to that one. You can't cheat off McD, obviously, Nuge is in the slot, and Bear breaking open. A goalies nightmare there.

In anycase sorry for the Oilers loss. Talbot wasn't great but Ducks had the luck of 3 tipped in goals in the game. I'm still wondering about the last one. What was that even? A blind hope centering puck? Damn thing must have been tipped twice as it was 3 feet into the air. Or were the Ducks trying for a blind luck deflection with a minute left that somehow perfectly finds twine.

Given the schedule and playing both the Ducks and AV's still the Kings still can control their destiny but its tight all the way now. Better luck the rest of the way.

f*** right off with that bullshit. Worry about your own netminder instead of dragging that rubbish here

Well, theres that way to be. ;)

Several posters here have welcomed me to post here as a bandwagon fan. No offenses meant by the Quick comments but its true.. I love the Kings, have for years. You missed the earlier posts I guess which is totally fair.

Good luck Kings, hope you get in.

You are a good person, I like you.

Kingspiracy is in a bad mood, forgive him.

edit: and you were dead right about Aberg's goal.

LOL Quick isn't as dynamic as he was in 2012, no goaltender is, but you were dead wrong about Aberg's goal, so I don't know how much your evaluation holds water, you truly believe that Quick shouldn't be on the goal line when the puck is behind the net, that astounds me.

Would be better, as I stated,if Quicks left pad WAS on the goal line instead of in the net for some unknown reason. Your chances of stopping any puck when you are inside the net decreases substantially I've heard...

Yes, I'm trying to inject some humor. Lets carry on. We'll start a new topic.

What the frick is wrong with Toffoli? Go, heh

You are more than welcome to post here, but i'll call a bs post out, especially if its from a div rival fan on our board.

How would it go down in oil territory if i made some weak opinionated post knocking an oiler?

You do realize that wouldn't have mattered at all right?? Oh god, you seriously think that mattered on that goal, oh god bless you....

Well, being that its the Oilers board discussing the Oilers team if you we're talking about anybody but half a dozen players we'd pull up a chair and be discussing the same and cracking a cold one. heh

But Opinions are just that. I did post up some content on the last page if you're interested though and so not only opinion.

I liked Quick a lot during the SC runs. Clearly he was a top goalie. But he's 32, seen a ton of rubber, been through the wars and back so many times. He's played a ton of hockey in his career. I think its harder for him now.

But jk aside I get your point. I made an error in judgement. But in fairness to me we're not used to praising every player on the oilers board and I'm kind of opionated..;)

I was in a bad mood after the Ducks game. Its all totally understood. WE HATE the Ducks in Edmonton. So does the team. Sucks, so, much..

One of the weird things about how tight the races always are in the west is every friggen day feels like game night. So that you're on the edge of your seat watching out of town games.

PS My Avatar is Draisaitl eating duck. Only duck feathers left..

Too bad he didn't pump in one more goal.

A few general rules you need to learn around here:

1. When the Kings lose it's almost always due to bad bounces.

2. Kings players only get better with age.

3. Players who played a role in winning a Stanley Cup, especially star players, should retire as LA Kings.

4. When the Kings play like crap and lose, it's the guys who play less than 10 minutes a game who are the most to blame. If a star looks bad out there, see Rule #1.

These are general rules and by all means do not fit every poster here. EDIT: I hope everyone realizes most of this was tongue in cheek. :)

Made me lol.

I think the thing is--especially using Quick as an example--it's about the lens you use to judge a player. Quick can do no right to some unless he gets a shutout and even then you'll still see driveby comments that it wasn't pretty enough, that he was swimming. Part of the problem with athletic vs. butterfly goaltenders I think too is the visuals/aesthetics. It's rarely pretty unless it's a highlight reel save. Anyway, I digress. Earlier this year, Quick was a monster and a legit Vezina candidate; when he got (allegedly--becasue who knows if it was just cover) hurt, he rattled off a stretch of about 8 games of badness. He recovered, and has alternated great and not good since. The beef I have is the hottakes seem to completely discount the highs and only see the lows. People waiting to pounce on Quick (see the bumped 'system goalie' thread on the main board, lol). Quick has always had consistency issues, I'm not blind, but goalies around the league have the same concerns, and so to pronounce Quick dead while leaving other goalies off the hook is what irks me. We need a sense of perspective. Hell, I can't think of a goalie that HASNT had a bad or injured stretch this year. And so I think coming in and excusing Gibson for his goals against while flat out blaming Quick for his is an example of that sense of warped perspective, of bias, of rooting for a guy to fail and pouncing on his errors instead of praising his wins (hell, there was precious little happiness for Quick saving a McDavid 2-on-1, but there's massive overexaggeration of a Gibson scramble in which he was actually beaten twice and made 3 real saves). No, Quick isn't 2012 Quick; pretty much no goalie this year is, so that's an unfair standard. But calling him bad vs. the rest of the true starters is just factually inaccurate and visibly wrong unless we only remember the bad stuff. (hell, Kuemper and Campbell have let in first period stinkers this year as well, but you won't see people harp on that). Hell, at one point people were pining for Martin Jones, without realizing that he was bad enough at one point that they were questioning whether Dell should be the starter.

Regardless, I have no ill will man, appreciate that you're here to discuss and back it up, and Sol has stood up to his credit as well. I love the discussion, I'm just an argumentative prick.

Wouldn't be favored to win any of those match-ups, but SJ is 9-1 in their last 10 in LA, including 3 playoff wins.

I'm easy, I don't have a particular preference. There's a story any which way.

Does one of those half dozen players include McDavid? :)

I should probably pull my head in, Like Frolov 6'3 said, i'm just cranky today. Been under the weather all weekend and been up since 230 with a coughing kid. My moods not helped with the Kings sliding and playing uninspired hockey against your boys the other day.

BTW we haven't been praising every kings player here, it's been negative nancy central here for some time, everyone gets slayed on here at some point, it gets a little tiresome.

Cough syrup with a little whiskey in the mix works wonders for both!

FTFY.

This Vegas-Colorado game is massive for the Kings. Vegas up 1-0 in 2nd.

A Kings loss and Avs win and the fat lady would start warming up.
