And the Ducks are hopping to Andersen.

I'm telling you, that's a psychological mess for a sports team. There's a reason we've dismantled teams that swap goalies mid-series.

I should want the Ducks to lose tonight, being our rival, but I have mixed feelings. I have a lot of respect for the way they came from being near the bottom of the rankings to pulling off the string of victories they did to grab the division title. That's incredibly hard to do.

I think winning the title was too important to the Ducks. That seems to be Bruce's curse. Do you well in the regular season and burn out in the playoffs.
The Duck loving wife wants Bruce fired if the Ducks lose to the Predators . I don't see that happening.

Ouch, that's gonna mess with Gibson's confidence, though I still believe the Ducks take at least 1 game in Nashville. They become a mess when it comes to the playoffs, letting the Preds get into their heads and couldn't stop harping at the refs in game 2.

Ugly, yeah.

Remember the Kings-Avs game at Staples from ...googles... 2002?

HASENFRATZ!

(LA Kings fans littered the Staples Center Ice with trash after a typically awful Hazenfratz call went against the home team-- and after Kings' coach Andy Murray positively lost his ***** on the bench. It was bonkers. Spring, 2002.)

Yes, I DO remember that! AFAIK, Hasenfratz has only reffed around a dozen or so Kings games since then. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear the League has secretly determined that that particular ref has a bias against the Kings. FWIW, I did not see his name on the roster of officials set to ref the 2016 playoffs. Thank God!!!!

Yep. Teams who can't decide on a #1 goalie to ride during the playoffs do not win Cups.

Can you imagine if Sutter decided to go with Enroth for Game 3? I mean, seriously? Crazy. Gibson has NOTHING to do with the Ducks problems right now.

Bruce's curse is two-fold. He overthinks everything, and he is incapable of keeping his mouth shut when he should.

Wow, BB sure does not learn does he? Gibson has played fine for the Ducks. The fact that they can't score and are taking too many penalties has nothing to do with goaltending.

I know that coaches change goalies between periods to sometimes spark their team, but I see no benefit in doing it in between games, especially when there were no blowouts. It sends a wrong message to your team, i.e., that you have no idea how to fix the problem and are just changing goalies for the sake of change.

Anaheim's situation is a little different IMO. both Anderson and Gibson are legit #1 goalies. Sometime teams get a jump by a change like this.

The coach only has so many things he can do to try and spark the club, this is one thing. I think it is the correct thing.

To be fair the Hurricanes won the cup in 06 after a goalie change. Martin Gerber started around 60 games for them that year and rookie Cam Ward played only 25 or so. After game 2 Carolina changed from Gerber to Ward and would ride the rookie backup to the cup.

True. But Gerber gave up 6 on 21 shots and then 3 on 13. He was awful by all accounts. Gibson hasn't been lights-out but he certainly hasn't been the reason they've lost, though he might want that first goal in game 1 back.

Either way, I'm enjoying it.

True, but that was different situation. Gerber was absolutely horrible to start the playoffs and the reason they were losing games. Going to Ward made total sense and they rode him the rest of the way. Gibson hasn't been the reason the Ducks have been losing, and Anderson hasn't played much at all. It would be like the Kings going with Enroth for game 3 because Quick was "just OK" in games 1 and 2. Crazy.

I dont disagree with you two about carolina or gibson playing ok.

However i disagree that changing goalies is neccessarily a kiss of death. Particularly when its a 1a/1b type of thing like anaheim. This is not quick/enroth. Either guy could be considered the starter. Both are good and if one isnt hot try the other (gibson has been fine but not great). Also a big wake up for team which might help.

Holy cow. How does Chicago come out of a scrum Crawford starts (very Quicklike) with the power play? (And then score on.)
