Ghost is ridiculous.
Also, Yeo got canned for a bad GM job, way to take the bullet buddy.
WSH lost.. So its our turn to send them to first losing streak this season![]()
They've not played well for the most part, since the All Star break,
That expresson, 'good teams find ways to win' is what they've done, for the most part, 1 goal wins either on Holtby's back or tying a close game getting the GWG. But you can't go down 4-0 to a team as good as the Stars and expect to win playing 20 mins of hockey.
82 game season, all teams, even very good ones , hit a wall and back slide. And Backstrom hasn't looked right for awhile now, not sure if he's nursing something.
THey are , lot several teams, looking for that 'defenseman' to make a difference. Seller's market, just a matter of how much to overpay, if that's the case, for a team that wants to get to the SCF
And that's something that concerns me. As savvy Dean Lombari is, the assets to use in a trade for a defenseman are low compared to Dallas/Washington. Heck, we do not even have a first round pick this year, and sold off a couple of our defensive prospects (Miller/McE). I don't feel we have what it takes to grab a good player.
The Wild have hired our old friend John Torchetti on an interim basis to replace Yeo.
That's a name I didn't think I would ever hear again.
Dean will do what he feels is right for the team, recently, I haven't agreed with some of his trades. I don't like the 'sacrificing the future, trading away top picks and prospects for the 'difference maker' line of thought that some GM's fall prey to . There are no guarantees for a Cup, for any team. And he's already traded away some of that future. I understand he wants to win, and I think sometime his heart overrules his head and that isn't always the best avenue to pursue.
From what I read and heard (podcasts w/ Mckenzie, friedman, etc> ) he really wanted Byflugien badly, and put together quite the package. But Byf got the deal he wanted to stay. So I guess DL will watch and wait, hopefully make a good decision that will help the team now and not gut the shelf for the future.
Agree that other teams have more to offer, but that might mean he'll settle for a lesser option that will still benefit the team.
Heard an odd rumor yesterday that he was sniffing around for Ladd...but the price started with that elusive 1st round pick. Don't think they need him, would rather have defensive help.
They are awful last year until they got DUbnyk , whose ridiculous play saved their season and Yeo's job, I think.
Nice post. The heart over the head especially. That's the frustrating part about last year. Lombardi saw too much of 'the old boys can do it one last time!' when instead we really should have had a mini sell off with Williams/Stoll/Reg. I never saw much flash on the team that year with the headache going on of Voynov. Even if the offers were 2nd/3rd or what not, we went ahead and spent considerable assets for Sekera and flopped hard. Then we had Reg retire, Williams resign somewhere else, and Stoll finally was picked up, along with Sekera resigning in Edmonton.
Wasted assets. So we double down on draft day to pickup Lucic. Fair value for one year only, but I doubt we re-sign the fellow.
Our defense prospect pool is thinner and the blue chip prospects we have (if you want to call them that) is Zykov and Kempe. Fair prospects but they do not look to be anything first line material.
Good posts. I don't see any of our prospects likely being above the 3rd line. It's possible we'll see Kempe be a second-liner, but I'm not seeing enough out of him right now. Dowd a future defensive 4th-line center. Brodzinski, it's still early with him. Zykov a healthy scratch recently.
A somewhat bare cupboard and 3 draft picks this year. However, we're fielding an exciting NHL team that other teams get up to play against. But after losing a 1st-rounder and a prospect for a brief rental (Sekera) do you see Lombardi making that same move with Lucic? Lecavalier is already going to be a rental because of his retirement plans. We don't have anyone to replace Lucic, not even Mersch can do that.
I am encouraged by Gravel's play and smarts. He's not going to any other team in a trade.
SJ, ANA and LA will be top 3 in the Pacific. Who wins the division? Who cares.
The Buffalo Sabres have suspended forward Evander Kane for sleeping in and missing practice Monday after he attended the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday in Toronto.

Oh don't worry the Anaheim fans will let you know who cares.
Well, since you asked, I would like to win the division because I'd rather play Colorado than San Jose. At the end of the day it probably doesn't matter but I'd like a nice warmup round.

As a kings fan I rather play the Sharks lol
I get the feeling we'll be doing that without home ice.
