I'm clearly a curse. Since the Jets return only ONE of my teams can make playoffs at a time. Jets are imploding so quickly. Went to the game tonight and it was 4-0 before everyone made it into the building almost.

I hope Byfuglien does end up in LA, signs a nice deal longterm and everyone wins in the trade. I still think Jets would target Pearson in a trade and Kings can afford to lose him with Mersch and Kempe waiting in the wings at basically NHL ready. Something around Pearson + Forbort/Gravel + Ehrhoff (salary maybe)/McBain + picks for Byfuglien and Postma (very underrated puck mover with untapped upside, great skater PP beast). That'd be great.

Meh. Its better for the Jets. The team is never gonna be better than middle of the pack as currently constructed. Best for them to fall out of the playoffs get a good pick. Then turn Buff/Ladd to to real good assets, and jump start a rebuild/retool. Let Ehlers/Conner/Trouba/Sch/new asset/next pick carry the team into the future.

The problem in Winnipeg is the GM. He is too gunshy to actually commit to a rebuild, lacks overall vision. He is like the anti-Lombardi. Lombardi has made some notable blunders over the years, but his planning and foresight are fantastic. Chevy's individual moves have been ok, but he has no vision or planning to bring it all together.

I would do that trade in a second.

Tough to manage a team in transition--he had all the pieces and expectations to really push and last year probably escalated that. Tough because as is the team isn't really a threat and there's a large gap between the old guard of guys like Enstrom (so happy he's still in the league really loved him since the Thrashers days) and Ladd and the youngters like Ehlers, Schiefele, et. al.--obviously a perfect world has some vet insulation but the way I see it right now, with Hellebuyck ready to roll, get some more high picks and future pieces, make Wheeler the captain, and rock some heads in the coming years.

With the way Kempe is developing, I would be okay with losing a low pick and Pearson for Buff if we could actually re-sign him.

The Jets have 9 guys on the team that played in Atlanta. That was basically 5 years ago. For a team that hasn't won much, half the roster being the same after that long seems like a lot. For comparison, the Kings have 11 guys on the roster from the 2012 Cup team. That includes Greene, and it would've been 12 had Voynov not done what he did.

In terms of the Sedin's, this is always funny. They're great players, but maybe too nice. Which is odd, because they've been on that Canucks team that everyone hates. Then you throw in that they're twins, been on the same team their whole life, etc, etc, and it probably takes on a life of its own.

I don't think we would be able to sign him. It would probably be rental. Which means all in for the cup now.

what a punk JT is picking on a guy he knows won't fight back

that D would be fun to watch

DD/MCN
BUF/MUZZ
JAZZ HANDS/SCHENN

of course the matchups depend on time of game.etc

How? It's going to take a miracle just to re-sign Lucic , so any deal for Buff will be just an expensive rental. There's just no money, especially for what he was reported to be asking , 8/55 mil.

Karlsson had an insane 4 point night after a few points a few nights ago...on pace for 91, which is well within reach for the single-season d-man scoring record (housley, 98).

Think what you want of him defensively (trust me, I do :P), but offensively, he is just something else.

No playoffs, no awards even if he puts up 90.

Talk about salt in the wound, the Hawks fans in Dallas were chanting "Crawford, Crawford " late in the 3rd with the Hawks up 5-1. The Stars fans had no response.

So will this guy be a King on February 29th?

That 98 point Housley record, do you mean points by a defenseman on a non-playoff team? Because Orr and Coffey have both put up substantially more than that in a season.

Or points by a non-Canadian defenseman? Not sure what you meant RJ.
