Listening to the Face Off on SiriusXM Radio and Nick Alberga @thegoldenmuzzy and Eric Gage @EricGagetweet got a call from a Kings fan wanting to talk about how good jonathan Quick is lately and how Quick should take the nickname "king" from Hendrik Lundquist.

The hosts went on to point out what trolls Kings fans are and proceeded to talk about how big of a man crush they have on Lunquist.

The East Coast bias is so annoying. Lunquist this, Sydney Crosby that.

Hank is the most consistent goaltender of this era and he deserves tons of accolades. But I'm sick of him getting treated like this infallible class act.

Another somehow unpopular opinon--I'm not impressed by players who put up huge numbers on terrible teams.

Just another thing I read today where the author had not only Karlsson over Doughty (has a case, that's fine) but ALSO OEL AND SUBBAN (and Burns but he's not on a terrible team, though he's incredibly insulated).

To some degree, it's big fish in a small pond syndrome, where these guys are obviously great players, but SOMEONE has to score, and their relative stats look fantastic because they're surrounded by toilet water.

Rich Nash comes to mind with that too from back in the day.

I don't put too much stock in team records.

Could just be me, but I'd be pissed if someone on my (I'm on a roll... can't worry about these things right now) team making 8.5M was blaming the refs for their shortcomings. At that price tag I expect players to own their shortcomings and bust their ***** to get better, not blame someone else.

Could you imagine Kopitar saying, "The refs cost us that game."

This guy doesn't bail Hank out 2 times in one game, the King puts up a goose egg in the finals. Also looks like Marshmallow even has a crown. :naughty:

To the other point about "great" players on bad teams. Maybe they're "great" because their team sucks and they can spend the whole game cheating for offense because winning doesn't matter; conversely, maybe winning doesn't matter because their teams suck because these "great" players spend all game cheating for offense. :amazed:

I know... points for finding a use for ";" Why does this thing even exist?

These other fanbases get to say ******** **** because they have no clue what a real winning team looks like. The only three fanbases in the league that have any real ground to judge a winner are the Kings, Hawks, and Bruins. Everyone else is forced to grasp at straws.

I really don't give a **** who thinks Karlsson is Buddha on skates. He's still never winning a championship.

Strong words from @Senators @MelnykEugene Blames "inconsistency & stupidity" for season. http://www.tsn.ca/radio/ottawa-1200-1.457588 …

"We're going to have to make some changes for next year...It was inconsistency, and some stupidity. I go back to the very first game you put in the second goalie, what was that about on opening night? And the guy gets clobbered! That's not fair to him, not fair to the fans,...It's a lot of tiny little mistakes, that just escalate. It gets serious, it gets in people's heads,...Somedays you look like Cup Champs, other days you look like AHL players...We've got to make some changes, I know that!" "Everything is under a microscope."
Sens owner -Eugene Melnyk

Fun to see the excitement (and humor) on the Sabres board over former Kings prospect Hudson Fasching signing with the Sabres. They're expecting him to see NHL action Saturday night. Kid is leaving after 3 years with his degree.

Dee, that owner doesn't mince words, does he?

no, he was /is spittin' nails mad. He's right, they do have talent but lack form, identity, some sort of definition. That is part on the GM and coach and leadership.
I guess that means another coach could join McLean in collecting ex-coaches $$.

Melnyk sounded somewhat exasperated when asked to summarize the 2015-16 campaign for his club, calling it a “total roller coaster of hope and despair.â€

Melnyk is also the idiot who was going to launch a forensic investigation to prove that Cooke purposely cut Karlsson's Achilles tendon. Guy is as delusional as alot (not all) of sens fans.

That roster is far from a cup contender, and their run last year masked alot of their issues.

Fasching will be an NHL player, he has a pretty nice combo of size, skill and skating. He was the Gophers best player as a 20 year old.

Speaking of Minnesota, there are a couple of undrafted forwards on that team that the Kings should look into taking a chance on, our system is so awful, especially up front we really have nothing to lose by signing someone like Kloos.

If Cameron gets canned, that's 7 coaches for Murray, including Murray himself. Unbelievable. Maybe they don't' have an identity because they don't have TIME to form and identity?

The more I've watched them this year, the more I wonder if Cameron's system is just too ambitious period; it's almost full man-to-man with some strange exceptions it seems and a lot of their brain farts are from guys looking confused. 70 games in, it's hard to blame EVERY player if guys can't figure out the system. I like what they're TRYING to do, but it blows up in their faces spectacularly.

Doesn't help that you have one guy, your captain, fully ignoring it many times, though.

Agreed, high floor, high ceiling for Fasching.

Can't imagine we don't sign a few college and otherwise UFAs this year.

Owners that try to involve themselves into day to day hockey operations fail miserably. You have to feel for the fans there. Because it sounds like they are in for a long road ahead.

They've got some good young talent, but they're on the down swing. Turris and Zbad are good players, but neither are ideal as 1C's. Then there's EK, whose an offensive beast and that's about it. They might lose a great young goal scorer in Hoffman over the summer as well. Quintessential black hole team.

Bobby Ryan is another player I would want nothing to do with. All the talent in the world and just flat out takes games off. This is a guy that should get 25+ goals in his sleep playing in the Eastern Conf and has yet to do that in three seasons in Ottawa.

The fact is though, it's hard to win in this league without superstar players, and you have to draft those. The Kings had Kopitar and Quick and then the new management team added Doughty. The Hawks drafted Keith, Toews and Kane. Ottawa has a superstar in Karlsson, but nothing really beyond that.

I don't understand how and owner can be so opinionated but refuse to spend to the cap.

Zero accountability and onus put on the players. They run the show.

Like the late 90s Panthers or early 00s Rangers. But those teams were mostly over the hill veterans and/ or ex-superstars. It's strange in Ottawa because there is a good mix of younger players and vets, but I don't think their older players have much in the way of leadership abilities. We all heard what Burke thought about Ryan when that voice mail leaked a couple years back.

Then you've got Neil, Michalek, Gomez now. Phaneuf, MacArthur. It's just a mishmash of guys who've failed elsewhere but have shown sparks of offensive ability. No grit to really bind it together and a captain who I have a hard time seeing getting on guys cases. Or inspiring people through his own play.

Kind of an island of misfit toys scenario where the gifted child with ADHD is in charge.

Re: that CHicago prospect, The amount of people that haven't heard of a photo release is staggering, haha.

He said something to the effect of throwing money at the problem doesn't help, though he can be proven wrong in so many ways, lol.

B Murray has issues at this point but he's not being helped by management.

Another term which gets thrown around a lot lately is "generational". If you're truly a generational player (spoiler, probably not), you better elevate your team beyond garbage to garbage that sneaks into the playoffs on a hot streak then is garbage again the following season. I guess the bar has been lowered on what constitutes that level of player nowadays.
