All that matters now is the playoffs.
Chicago last year was playing 500 hockey right before the playoffs started. All California teams will be in and will be hard to play against.
While it would be nice to win a division/conference title, it is not what we brag about. If the Ducks or Sharks don't win another regular season game and still get in (and they would) they are both good teams that have a chance to win it all. Now don't get me wrong, I hope the Kings crush them, but I expect a California team to be playing for the Cup this year
It might not be anything to brag about. But winning the conference or division makes the road to us being that team from California that much better.

Losing to the Devils sucks. Losing to the Devils 7 to 3 in the 3rd while trying to edge out the Avs' for the last playoff spot is just sad. Wild...

Listened to it on the way home on XM. Wild are pure unadulterated trash. I wonder what player Genius Fletcher will throw $100 million at this summer.

beginning to worry that the Hawks will tank so hard that we pull them round 1

much rather beat up on some other crappy central team than have to deal with Kane and company

let the Blues draw the Hawks and beat the snot out of them instead, they could (sadly) use the ego boost

better just finish tops in the west and get the wild/avs then

Seguin out 3-4 weeks with a cut Achilles. Would post the tweet but not sure how to embed them.

Ouch. 15% cut, with 20 seconds left in the game, STralman's skate brushed against his calf.

Considering how many times players get tangled up and go flying into the boards or in a dogpile, it 's a wonder there are not more cuts like that.

He'll be back for the playoffs, which is good.

Sucks for Dallas. Really hoping they finish first in the Central and Chicago gets St. Louis in the first round. That would be an awesome series.

He's not going to keep shooting at a 43% clip, but I'm enjoying egging on my Habs buddy about Devante Smith-Pelly. Didn't realize it, but the Devils have a near identical record to Minnesota. I'm just hoping that the salary cap crunch + impending expansion draft opens up the trade market for another Kyle Palmieri type.

Devils have some cap space, but the free agent class looks weak. Might be better to save it for a rainy day rather than go buck wild like Buffalo when they signed Ehrhoff/Leino to big deals.

That is why getting the conference is so important.
And if what you are talking about happens there will be dancing in the streets of every team in the central.

Probably no chance Dallas falls to a wild card, eh? I'd love to pull that card!

I've always really like DSP, no clue why he gets a raw deal. Expectations, maybe? I"ve always seen him play a simple, effective north-south game. At one point I even really wanted him in the Kings bottom six for that reason, but then we got a bunch of redundancies.

if he was a senator they would say it was on purpose

I liked DSP on Anaheim too. Figured they had a logjam with Silfverberg/Palmieri/DSP, so I was hoping the Devils could get one of them. Slightly amusing to me that they ended up with two.

This might end up just being DSP's best 10 game stretch in his career, but I'm hoping he can fill that David Clarkson role (ie, when Clarkson was useful and not just a bad contract).

DSP killed the Kings during the 2014 playoff series. I dont think he meshed well in Montreal at all so its good to see him lighting it up for you guys. he plays a hard nosed game

What the risk of us facing Chicago in 1st round?

Losing?

I wouldn't underestimate any team going into the playoffs. One thing the Kings have showed us over the years, that come playoff time, they can flip the switch. No reason why a team like CHI wouldn't do the same thing, especially being a team that knows how to win more than anyone in the league right now.
