If the Kings miss the playoffs in this awful division, wow.

That's all I got, wow.

Not sure why, but the Kings seem to struggle against teams from the Pacific Division during the regular season. I am concerned that we are getting lulled into a false sense of security though. The rest of the teams in the Pacific are not very good.

Other than the 1-4 home record against Pacific teams, they're 11-2. Two games where they got 1 ES goal against the Coyotes and struggled with their speed, and then two overall poor efforts against the Sharks and Canucks.

You just play who you play when you play them. About all you can do. 5-1 against the Central, although 3 of those wins were at home.

Negative. Dee stated that the Blues (and Sharks) never made it to the ECF three seasons in a row, and I basically corrected that.

No, that's close but not what I said, I said 3 Conf. Finals and an SCF in 4 yr timeframe

But I got what your intent was by using very old Blues history , although that was a smaller league and much easier path.
More difficult today to achieve what the Rangers have done.

Except that the East has been pretty weak overall during that time.

Ultimately it is impossible to compare across five decades. Suffice it to say the Rangers have done well over the past few seasons, but they still didn't come up with ultimate prize. Having suffered through almost 45 seasons with this team without getting one, and then getting so close in 1993 without coming away with one, that has got to be the most frustrating and disappointing result in the NHL ever.

To me, it's either Cup or bust. Every season.

Scary for Ollie Maata, cross checked (gif below) into the boards by Nino Niederreiter, and the bench door opened. He was taken to a hospital. From reports this morning , he didn't suffer internal organ damage, which was a fear last night but remains in considerable discomfort. He'll undergo further testing today.

NHL - no fine or suspension, which was expected.

Canucks are in 3rd place despite having 5 more losses than wins. The point system is and will always be a joke! **** yooooooouuuuuuuu, Vancouver!

It is not sustainable. LA had the same issue past 60 Mins last year. Eventually leaving that many points on the table will bite vancouver in the ass

I also am not a fan.
At the very least they need to change the tie break from Regulation and Overtime wins to just regulation wins now with the 3 on 3

I think that might be coming but who really knows. Will have to see after this year. I know I think that the ROW numbers will be really inflated this year. But then again how often does it even make it to ROW to determine a playoff spot? And that is the first tie breaker.

But in points per game, they're 4th in the division. Not that any of it means anything in mid November.

Would have been pretty hard to fine or suspend Nino given that it is hard to tell how much of the injury is from the door opening...maybe should have suspended Kemper:sarcasm:

According to Dreger/Friedman, Travis Hamonic quietly requested a trade before the season and the Islanders have been trying to accommodate him. Prefers the western Canadian squads due to family reasons but might have to expand his list.

Big problem with finding a trade partner is that the Islanders would basically want a Travis Hamonic type back in return rather than picks/prospects. Not many teams have that sort of player to give up. Winnipeg does come to mind with Jacob Trouba though.

Hamonic grew up in Manitoba and ESPN did a profile on him last year about how he lost his father at a young age. At every Islanders game, he does a meet and greet with other kids who are going through the same thing.

Trouba is really struggling this season, the entire Jets team is but I'd be shocked if Winnipeg gave up on Trouba so quickly, nothing against Hamonic but Trouba's upside is significantly higher and his salary is much less.

To bad he only wants to go to Western Canada, Hamonic is exactly the kind of guy the Kings could use on the blueline. He is young, good around, physical, a right handed shot and makes the same as Matt Greene.

it has come out that the list of teams could expand but western canada is his preference. His home town is Manitoba so probably California is too west.

Tyler Myers is the same age, but a different type of D. Trouba is RFA this offseason which might be an interesting negotiation. With Myers on board, Trouba got bumped out of PP time so his numbers have taken a hit. Trouba is cheaper for now but he could play hardball and use Dougie Hamilton as a comparable.

But yeah, definitely a hard trade to make. Also curious timing as to why it was reported now. It seemed like Dreger and Staples (Isles beat writer) had heard about the request before the season, maybe on the condition of it being off the record?

Even if he expands far enough we'd be in on the running with what they say they want we'd have to start with Muzzin or Martinez. And would that actually make our D any better? I don't really know.

I would do A-Mart plus in an instant. Thing is I think we would be father from his home than Brooklyn
