The Oilers pulled a Calgary like comeback in the 3rd period, drawing even at 4-4. Leon Draisaitl with a 4-point performance.
Oilers top six is something to behold, that's for sure. Draisaitl is freaking awesome.
Now, if they have the balls to trade Eberle/Yak/Draisaitl for a money D-man, THEN they're going to be really scary.

He's a soft, overhyped, #3-4 d-man. Of course a dumb organization like the Oilers would pick him up for 5 mil a year. Glad we didn't give him what he wanted.

I got around to watching highlights from last night's games. Boy, Bernier is a shell of the goalie he used to be. What happened to that guy?
Oh yeah... Toronto.
Sekera was always overrated in my opinion. He is a decent puck mover, with strong possession trends.
But the guy is not on the Muzzin/Drew/A-Mart level. Sekera is not a (Driver) of possession or production. Not worth 5.5 million at six years.
Muzzin's contract right now is an absolute steal.
Also, still absolutely amazed that guys like Clune/Torres/Scott, continue to get NHL contracts. It's amazing.
After the game the other night, Mike Babcock was very complimentary of Bryon Froese. Tell me about Rich Clune and Byrone Froese in terms of what they offer in terms of work ethic. The hope is that that permeates throughout the dressing room, right? Lamoriello: I think that the dressing room has been great as far as the work ethic. Mike and our coaching staff has done a tremendous job of getting our players to buy into the idea you can’t just work a shift here or a period here. It has to be done all the time, every night. I think that, when some people have not been used to that, you will go through different phases where, because you’re not accustomed to bringing it every single shift and every night, you fall back a little. I think these two gentlemen, with their past and what they’ve overcome, bring that night in and night out. I think that will add to what is there. As far as character and work ethic, they’re second to none.

Exactly, it's a nonexistent Defense that plays in front of him. Babcock has a lot of work ahead of himself.
Bernier just isn't very good, people still talk like he is 22 with some kind of untapped potential. He is what he is.
