Weird. Geez. Perron looked kinda decent tonight for the Pens... Big body on the boards, anyway.

Trades coming early this year.

Now Dallas is gonna be good and pissed for us!

Wasn't there a thread nine games into the season when Montreal was undefeated and it read something like "Is Montreal the team to beat" or was it "Is any team going to beat Montreal", etc, etc.:laugh::laugh: Always love these knee jerk reactions.

"Can anyone stop the Sharks?" :naughty:

And don't forget that Fear the Fin tweet that you can't post here. Also gold.

Great, the Commonwealth Ghoul is back in the division.

 forgot about this nickname.

Quick's favorite.

Luckily Dallas plays the Sharks next. It's like a buffer game.

It's a good trade for Anaheim. They got rid of a bad contract.

I don't think Pittsburgh upper management has any idea what they're doing.

Ah yes probably the best of them all!

They weren't that far off. They certainly are the team to beat.. apparently thoroughly and often.

4-14 in their last 18. GF/GA over that span = 1.78/2.89. They have St. Louis, Chicago, and Boston coming up. That should help them a bit :sarcasm:

Yup. The value is in Perron's expiring contract, if he provides any production on the ice, then it's just gravy. I could see them re-signing him if he has a resurgence, but I doubt that will happen.

:laugh:Honestly they're a decent team with Price and he's pretty much the whole team but talk about massively overrated even with THE GREATEST GOALIE OF ALL TIME (not named LUNDQVIST of course).

That was really the most important thing here. Not only does that contract go for 4 years at $4M but it also has a limited NTC for years 2-4. Good on Murray for correcting his mistake but what the hell was he thinking giving Hagelin a contract like that in the first place? Luckily, Jimmy Rutherford is there to take on that ridiculous contract. First the Lovejoy-Despres trade now this.

Bob Murray is a genius for maintaining a good relationship with the most senile, out-of-touch GM in the game, that's for sure.

I was never impressed by anything but speed with Hagelin, he just looked like a less-confident (Anaheim version) Cogliano. Rangers fans were selling him as unstoppable and banking a puck off Quick and Voynov into the net in the Cup Finals led to some confirmation bias chest pounding...then he disappeared for the rest of the series except when he was being used as a pinata on the boards. I thought he'd fit well being a pest/tenacious forechecker with the Ducks but in addition to their forwards from last year, but not in lieu of. Might end up being good for both teams but I do think Perron is a better fit because at least he doesn't look totally drunk in a top-6 situation too.

Hagelin is very much a one-trick pony, that being his speed but even that doesn't do him much good. He has no hands or scoring ability. His most value is his ability as a penalty killer which he owes to his speed but the Ducks have plenty of those, they're the best penalty killing team in the league. Many over on the Ducks board are saying that he was starting to "gel" on the second line but I think that was more Silfverberg finding his way than anything else. Cogliano is, in my estimation, much better than Hagelin. He plays a role that fits him perfectly, has that PK ability, has displayed that scoring touch (although infrequent) that Hagelin never has, and very few work as hard and put forth as much effort as he does.

As for Perron, he is slated to take Hagelin's spot alongside Kesler and Silf. My main concern is his defensive game which from what I hear leaves much to be desired. That line plays mostly a defensive role. They face off against the opponent's top lines, a lot of pressure is put on them to keep the opponent's best players off the score sheet. I don't think Perron is the endgame however. Murray just said that they're not done. Does this mean Drouin? If that's the case, above all else, I'm hoping this doesn't mean Theodore isn't heading the other way. Much rather trade Montour+ or even Vatanen quite honestly.

Dealing Vatanen would be a huge mistake. I would think you guys would nab someone else on D, unless Despres is coming back soon? Maybe a 3C as well...

I wouldn't want to deal Vatanen either but you have to give to get and Theodore's ceiling is higher than Vatanen's. The ideal situation would be to deal Brandon Montour and something minor but I don't know if that would get it done. I have to admit that Drouin makes me uneasy, he's a wild card. I have no idea what kind of player we'd be getting. On the one hand, Cooper could be screwing him over and not giving him the minutes he deserves. On the other hand, he could be an immature player who feels entitled to a role that he does not necessarily deserve or is ready for.

So what you're saying is, he'll fit right in :sarcasm:

Weird seeing Richards in a Caps jersey. Anyone know why they're wearing their darks in Buffalo, while Buffalo is wearing their whites? I don't see any third jerseys or anything like that.

Caps laying an egg tonight, but Richards having a strong game, especially since he 's not played in almost 9 mos.

Thru 2 periods, (9.05) TOI and of that 2:11 on the PK , where he's been their primary, which is what Trotz wanted, and was good. Start him on the 4th line and build his ES minutes up and lots of PK time, so once Trotz feels he's ready, he moves up to center the 3rd line as the primary checking line. He did skate a shift with Oshie and Williams.
He's skating well, doing solid boardwork, winning battles. So far, he appears to be on the path Trotz had laid out.

Hagelin had a pretty good SCF, that performance expired in Anaheim.

Pittsburgh has the worst GM in the league. Doesn't seem to have a cohesive plan or roster strategy whatsoever.
