Always wondered what happened to him, I remember there was a lot of hype when he was playing for Nashville. Kevan Miller just go a decent contract from Boston, and he's from Santa Clarita if I'm not mistaken.

Crosby with a powerhouse move.

It was pretty sick the way he just danced through the entire Tampa defense.

Buffalo, Islanders, Calgary.

But why would they take Quick and not Jones? Jones is younger and cheaper. The same reason you want to keep Jones is why the other team would rather have him. Plus if you're trying to get rid of Quick, because you want to sign Jones because he's younger and cheaper, that's going to decrease the price of Quick.

When you're up against the cap with a bunch of big contracts, every team knows it.

The Kings were offsides on Gaborik's game tying goal in game 7 vs the Hawks. Thank God this stupid review crap wasn't around 2 years ago.

Williams also pushed Niemi or Stalock into the net along with the puck in Game 4, or Game 6, in 2014. It probably shouldn't have been a goal, and they reviewed it and everything. Gretzky highsticked Gilmour. Clowe played the puck from the bench. The puck hit the netting in Detroit.

If people didn't blame refs for being blind, the league wouldn't have to come up with rules like that.

Pens are on their heels, Boyle with 2 goals in the 3rd to bring the Bolts within one to tie the game.

And Bryan Rust seals it with a breakaway goal, and Bonino can now celebrate with an empty netter.

It would've been a better game had Tampa played the game like they did in the final half of the 3rd . Can't help but think how different this game might've been had Drouins goal counted.

Seems like home ice has been meaningless this year. That does tend to happen quite a bit in the playoffs.

I know it's part of the rule, but having a goal waved off because a guys skate, while still onside, is off the ice by and inch sucks. I really hope they modify it so you can have a skate off the ice and the entire blueline is considered onside.

That is the way the rule use to be. Not sure when it was changed. Just remember one of the ex officials saying on twitter that is the way it was when they came up not too long ago.

My only source is the grainy youtube clip but Gaborik looked onside to me. You may be thinking of Carter's goal (to cut the lead to 2-1), in which he was undeniably offside.

Quick has been exposed before too. Any goalie can be. The Hawks did it in 2013, and 2014. The Kings won that series because they scored 28 goals in 7 games, not because they shut the Hawks down. Quick had terrible numbers at home against the Sharks this year. Couldn't stop a shot, but the players in front of Quick haven't been as good either.

Goalie is a weird and unique position in many different ways. They can be invaluable if they're good, but every one of them depends a lot on how they players in front of them play.

Good points.

There are several instances over Quick's career where he has won games in spite of the team defending him. Jones has allowed some real head scratchers this playoffs and the Sharks have bailed him out several times. I don't see him as the type of goalie that can win you a game on his own, which to be fair, about 4 or 5 goalies can do. I truly believe James Reimer would've beaten the Kings in that series too. LA never seriously challenged Jones.

That being said, the narrative of Jones being "unflappable" is one that I buy and I fully believe that does have a positive effect on his team, especially coming off of Anti Niemi whose body language has always been very telling to me.

Yeah, different goalies are going to be different goalies. Quick can be too much of an athlete sometimes. It gets him way out of position. At the same time, that athleticism allows him to make saves that other goalies don't. That's why Quick might steal a few more games than Jones does. It's also why we never know exactly which Quick will show up sometimes. A higher ceiling when he's in the zone, but a lower bottom when he's off his game.

With Quick it's not about making the most saves but making the key saves at the right times.

More often then not he makes the key save.

Thornton with the classic 'shoot it wide on the clean breakaway and get bailed out by your team mate bank pass' assist. 1-0 Shorks.

But we were only 1-3 in Game 4's that year. We sucked.

EDIT: I think you meant 2014 since we only played one Game 6 in 2014 (SCF).

EDIT 2: I actually don't know what you meant.

I have no idea either. My point was I hate the Sharks and 2012 feels like a long time ago, I guess.
