All I know is that if the Sharks won the series, Kings fans would use the 2 > 1 argument while Ducks fans would say "it took you 25 years while it only took us 14!!!!!!"

The Sharks managed to have the same 6 defensemen play every game in the playoffs. The Kings did it through 20 games in 2012, they did it through 24 this year.

Then the Kings were missing both Mitchell and Regehr for the series against Anaheim in 2014, and Pittsburgh loses Daley this year, and SJ still can't get a shot through in the 3rd period of an elimination game at home.

You never know how things will shake out.

LOL, and reading this salt on the Ducks further proves the parallel how the Ducks are the Oakland Raiders of the NHL (Raiders' habit of moving notwithstanding).

Raiders:
--California original (1960)
--first California NFL franchise to win in the Super Bowl era
--perennial merchandise seller in the NFL in their heyday
--repping a city that's considered a suburb of another (San Francisco)

Ducks:
--California original (1993)
--first California NHL franchise to win the Stanley Cup
--perennial merchandise seller in the NHL during the Disney days
--repping a city that's considered a suburb of another (Los Angeles)

Meanwhile, in real life, I went on record multiple times face-to-face with Ducks fans, "I was busier pulling my hair about Smush and Kwame than I was paying attention to your Stanley Cup run in 2007" ad nauseum.

Addendum: this San Jose smugness stems from the fact Silicon Valley is a recepient of East Coast Old Money. Heck, at one point in history, San Francisco's nickname was "New York of the West".

No wonder I personally met a BARF** in SF Bay Area.

Hello offseason! Bring on the horrible trades and the ridiculous threads. Can't wait for the new Karlsson threads as the NHL awards get closer!

So ****ing amazing to see Sharks fan watch the opposite team parade around their rink with the Stanley Cup. Couldn't have ended better.

A lot of delusions on the Sharks board about coming back next year stronger than ever. Hate to break it to them, but history indicates that won't happen.

Well, it's still the same 4 franchises over the last 8 seasons who've won the Cup. Boston winning once with 2 Finals appearances.

And that Brown hit is gonna go down in Sharks history like the bullet stuck in Roy Hobbs side from The Natural, apparently. What could've been! Little do they know that it's actually The Curse of Clowe that did them in. Cheaters never prosper!

This is the next best thing to winning the Cup....tx SJ for ceding the Cup to east coast. The day I really began to dislike that team was when clowe stuck his stick over the board...

Dustin Brown was behind the grassy knoll.

Martin Jones puts up a .918 regular season and a .923 playoffs (boosted only by his play in the final) and he should be a Conn Smythe winner, LA got hosed, and he reminds people of Carey Price.

Jonathan Quick puts up a .934 in the playoffs and he's a wash-up one year wonder.

Jones was above average in the finals with one great game but he was truly 'meh' all playoffs, it's just funny watching people overreact to the Sharks having competent goaltending instead of underwhelming goaltending.

Totally disagree, and I get that some of that is because he was king and elected to leave, but he finished 3rd in the NHL in wins and in his first full year in the league, was a large part of the reason the SHarks were in the SCF. He stopped 191 of the 205 shots he face thru 6 games and in 3 of them faced 40 or more. There was nothing about his performance that qualifies as 'meh'.
The SHarks played well and had a great run, coming up short and losing to a better team. They have a good defense and a good young goalie, like any team that comes up short , they'll make the adjustments and go at next year and they do have a solid chance to go deep again, mostly because Jones is a very talanted goalie who is technically sound, controls the crease well and doesn't crack under pressure.

San Jose is a stronger rivalry. Anaheim's a good rivalry too, but the Sharks rank higher.

Jones is a big reason they got as far as they did - certainly prevented a sweep in the Final as the Penguins were CLEARLY the better team.

Yep. If you get to the Final, you'd better win. Odds of the losing team getting back to the Final are slim.

This isn't the 90's anymore. Teams just don't have enough gas in the tank to get to the Final 2x in a row.
