Florida up 3-2 and last 3 games it has really looked like all NYR manages to do is hang on for dear life and hope they can somehow eek out the win, which they did in game 3 but games 4 and 5 were more of the same and unsurprisingly Florida won both.

Can't count out Rangers but really hoping Florida takes this series, they just seem like the more deserving team + out of the 4 teams remaining they're the one I'm probably rooting for most.

Florida really outclassed the Rangers as a team there. It felt like it was 15‐2 or something in high-danger chances.

Not too surprising. Shesterkin has bailed out the Rags a number of times. Florida is a more complete team, though Bob is still prone to produce some stinkers from time to time. Wouldn't surprise me in the least of Florida gets goalie'd two more times and loses the series, but they have played the more complete series so far. They're probably the 2nd deepest team in the league 1-20 behind only Dallas.

I sometimes feel that way watching them but I think that's just from how fully committed they are to their system, which is a very playoff type system. They're used to it and they've fully bought in to their roles. I don't think individually that Steven Lorentz, Nick Cousins, Kevin Stenlund, or NIko Mikkola are necessarily above average by 4th line standards. Maybe below them.

Kinda strange to see Stenlund as a regular in potential SCF team. I did always like him over other 4th line options, but would've never thought he'd have a stable role in such a good team

JMO, but the jackets have had lots of players over the years like Stenlund who flourish with teams with top line talent. They just aren't difference makers which with the jackets they have to be. But with a team like Florida, they can do all of that nasty stuff and not worry about being a scorer.

This is not an example of a player suddenly flourishing, or flourishing at all.

Stenlund was a 4th liner here, a 4th liner in Winnipeg, and now a 4th liner in Florida.

In Columbus and Winnipeg the teams were even in goal differential with Stenlund on the ice. With Stenlund on in Florida they've been outscored 32-16 in the regular season and 3-2 in the playoffs, with a 42% xG%.

So this is more an example of a decent player who goes to a better team and suddenly starts getting credit, even in this case when the results with him on the ice are worse. It's also an example of a common tendency where depth players on top clubs are actually worse because they don't have cap space or spare assets to get good ones.

There might be some opponent deployment issues in there as well. Against Florida you better out score their 4th line because their top two lines are going to be hard to out score. So opponent coaches really need to think about matchups. Against worse teams, matchups are less critical, especially as the game goes on. Plus, if you are up 2 goals you might be limiting ice time of your better players anyway. So a guy like Stenlund might see better competition in Florida than he has in other situations in his career.

Anybody else watching the power plays in the playoffs and feeling jealous of the amount of movement. Especially because the movement that happens looks like it has a purpose. I still think this is a bottom 5 or 6 team next year, but we should have the guys to run a middle of the pack power play and score more goals. We had 32 power play goals. Only Philadelphia was worse with 31. Seattle had 50 power play goals, which was 19th. Our power play should be at least 19th with Johnny Hockey out there.

The player movement or the puck movement?

I've come to the conclusion that our guys just aren't that good standing still. They need to be moving their feet to open up passing and shooting lanes. I think they'd be really dangerous with guys like Werenski, Chinakhov, and Marchenko weaving in the high zone.

I meant player movement. We stand still and pass the puck. Or a guy skates with the puck but looks like he has no plan and the other guys stand still. 100% agree we need to move more.

Hopefully Florida wins. Before I was a Columbus fan I was a Edmonton fan. Then I was a fan of both until it got too expensive and decided to ditch Edmonton lol. It'll be a what if moment for me. Who am I kidding. If I stuck with Edmonton, I would have been bad luck. Probably no McDavid or Draisatyl or they would have lost to Vancouver. Heck maybe Columbus would have had success if I never became a fan.

Also would suck but funny at the same time if Florida lost back to back finals.
