Yup, because a coach has never failed their first time around, learned from their first time mistakes and then succeeded in the future. I don't know if Arniel 2.0 is better than Arniel 1.0 but coaches sometimes do get better with experience.
That might be true but I'm not sure I've ever seen one so universally hated by the players. I think the CBJ payers hated him more than payers hated Babcock.

He's got a big hole to climb out from. It took him 12 years to earn another head coaching job.

Don't get me wrong, I am not sure he gets a fanbase excited but he's had twelve years to make himself a better coach. The GM likes him and I think the players in Winnipeg are familiar with him so perhaps he is a different guy the second time around. He was clearly not ready his first time around.

Every Dallas Stars game I watch I think “they are doing it right”. They know how to draft and develop talent. I really hope we are waiting to interview someone in their front office.

2nd round draft pick Jason Robertson with the hatty.

It is really discouraging that we haven't heard any GM interview rumors involving Dallas or Anaheim yet.

Well, of course not, in the former case - they're still in the playoffs.

In the latter case, Anaheim is in exactly the same position we are developmentally, so I don't quite comprehend the envy.

Their draft record from circa 2008 to 2023 is admirable. Try to find a "best drafting teams in the NHL" ranking restricted to those years where they aren't in top-10.

Martin Madden has been their director of amateur scouting since 2008 and AGM since 2020. To give another example, Bruce Franklin was the director of amateur scouting in Chicago (Drafts 2011-2016), and has been the director of player evaluation for the Ducks since 2017.

Pat Verbeek took over GM's position in 2022 and as of today neither guy has been replaced yet. I think their team construction under Verbeek has been better than what JD and Jarmo accomplished during that time.

I wondered why games were being shown on both TNT and Tru TV. I finally flpped over to Tru on accident and saw they have all kinds of extra stat tracking going on. Kind of cool but kind of distracting and takes up too much of the screen

Yup...takes up too much of the screen. If I had an 85" TV maybe I'd consider it but to cut my 55" down to 45" just doesn't work for me.

I flipped over after reading this. I think they need a way to have it on your phone or iPad in synch with the broadcast. If I am wondering about shift length I can then take a quick peak, but I don’t need to have shift length constantly thrown in face. Like put some code in the corner that I can scan and then simultaneously I can watch the game on my full tv and check out stats on a device.
